PnP Modern Search filters - Document type

Hi everyone!! I’m working with the PnP Modern Search Results + Filters web parts in SharePoint, and I ran into something confusing with document type filtering.

I recently added a Filters web part using the “Document Type” property, and I noticed that some Word files are categorized as “Word” while others are categorized as “Docx”. Because of that, they show up as separate filter values instead of being grouped together.

Does anyone know why SharePoint/PnP treats these as different file types? Is there a known reason behind this behavior? My first thought was that maybe documents edited/saved through the desktop Office app vs. Office on the web could affect the metadata somehow, but I’m not sure if that’s actually related.

Curious if anyone else has experienced this or found a clean way to normalize/filter them consistently. Thank you!!

I recently got a pop-up banner in Microsoft Teams inviting me to register a “Voice Profile” for a more accurate experience with voice recognition and noise suppression. From what I understood, it’s supposed to improve things like speaker recognition, transcription accuracy, and Copilot performance during meetings. I’m curious if anyone here has actually gone through the setup and used it for a while. Have you noticed any real improvements in audio quality or noise suppression, transcript accuracy or Copilot summaries, notes, or action items...

The reason I’m asking is because our team already uses Copilot heavily and, honestly, it’s been working really well for us so far. Transcripts are already very accurate and we haven’t really run into issues identifying speakers or generating summaries.

So I’m wondering if the Voice Profile feature is one of those “nice in theory but barely noticeable” additions, or if there’s actually a meaningful difference after enabling it.

Would really appreciate any real-world experiences! Thank you!

Hi everyone, I’m currently testing SharePoint Agents directly within a document library (I created it using the AI Actions option), and I’m running into a limitation I’m hoping someone here has experience with.
We want the agent to retrieve and clearly present document metadata that’s been used to tag files in the library. Specifically, we’d like responses to include something like:

Referenced documents
[Document Name] – Active / Draft

From my initial testing, the agent does reference the correct documents, but it consistently labels everything as “Active,” even when the metadata column (Status) is set to “Draft.”

I’ve already tried:

  1. Configuring behavior instructions within the agent
  2. Being explicit about using metadata fields like “Status”
  3. Creating the agent directly from the document library to ensure it has context

Are there known limitations with SharePoint Agents when it comes to retrieving and accurately reflecting document library metadata? Or would this be better handled by building the solution in Copilot Studio instead, where we might have more control over data retrieval and formatting?

Any insights would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!
