Pull report of individual PSTN usage?

We're running low on numbers. We want to remove existing ones from users that haven't received any incoming PSTN calls from external callers. However, it seems that pulling PSTN call logs from Teams is like pulling teeth.

The report "PSTN Usage" seems to only pull it for call queues, nothing else.

Anyone experiencing Microsoft Teams Direct Routing connectivity issues today?

Since this morning, we've been experiencing intermittent connectivity issues with Microsoft Teams Direct Routing. Call routing and connectivity appear unstable, with the service repeatedly dropping and recovering throughout the day.

After troubleshooting, our SBC and network infrastructure seem healthy. At this point, the issue appears to be related to connectivity between our environment and Microsoft services rather than anything on our side.

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues today? If so, which region are you in, and who is your SBC provider?

Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

Teams Phones moving to Pro Management Portal

So I noted that my Teams Phones are now showing up in the Pro Management Portal as of yesterday. I understand this is an expected change.

My question is has anyone else had issues with not all of your phones showing up yet? Should I just be patient and wait til the "Live" date of mid-July mentioned in Message Center?

PMP currently only shows 480 out of 630 of my phones. All the phones use the same licensing scheme, A5/Comm Credit/PAYG Calling Plan for users and Shared Space/Comm Credit/PAYG Calling Plan for common area phones.

Of the devices showing up, most of them are showing as User or Common Area correctly, while some are still showing Unknown. All phones have been updated and all showing Healthy in Teams Admin Center.

Urgent! Microsoft Teams video call not allowing me to join

I had a virtual interview for a new job through Microsoft Teams. I had a link sent to me to join a video call, but it would not allow me to join, saying that the call was not able to be completed. Thankfully, we agreed to reschedule the interview for a future date, but how do I avoid this happening again?

Teams Tracking & Sharing Location to Boss

Hello,

I am aware of a new update coming from MS Teams wherein it automatically sends the device location of the team members. I want to know if I can put in the office IP to my VPN and show that I am 24/7 at office location? Like a custom IP allocation VPN or something like a custom static vpn service.

Thoughts & Workarounds to Bypass this is highly appreciated !

Teams not remembering folder location in Shared files, after opening and closing a file within Teams.

Does anyone else have this problem? My users have been complaining about it for the past month. I'm guessing it has something to do with a recent update in Teams because it wasn't a problem before. I just want to confirm that it's a wider issue, and maybe check if someone has found a solution.

Description of Problem

  1. Navigate to a sub-folder in a Team. Any directory tree with multiple sub-folders should suffice, e.g. DirectorySub-DirectorySub-Directory.
  2. Open a file within that sub-folder. It's important that the file open within Teams (e.g. an Excel file or a picture). If it opens in an external app (e.g. Excel or a photo app), then the behavior won't be observed.
  3. Close the file in Teams. Instead of being dumped back into the directory where I was - e.g. DirectorySub-DirectorySub-Directory - I get dumped back into Directory and I have to navigate back to the directory where I was working. This is especially annoying if I am working within a deep-level directory and opening and closing many files.

Join/Transfer Teams Call on iPhone

My manager brought to my attention that if we are on a Teams call on our computer and want to switch to iPhone (either Intune enrolled, company owned or personal) the option to just shows up for a second or two and then disappears. After that we are unable to join the call. On Android it stays at the top of the Teams window.

Is this a known issue or has anyone else experienced this? We made sure we are on the most recent version of Teams. Thanks.

Using the Small Window for Incoming Teams Calls

A recent improvement is the introduction of a small window for incoming Teams calls. It doesn’t sound like a great step forward, but switching to the small window is a surprisingly useful step. The sad thing is that many users won’t know that the option to switch exists because it’s buried in Teams settings. If you’re a busy person who takes lots of Teams calls, switching is definitely recommended.

Is it okay to use a meme as my Microsoft Teams profile picture?

Hi everyone,

I'm 24, working as a software engineer, and I was thinking about changing my Microsoft Teams profile picture to a funny meme. It wouldn't be anything offensive or inappropriate—just something lighthearted.

Do people in your company use meme profile pictures on Teams, or is it generally expected to use a professional photo?

I'd love to hear what the norm is at your workplace. If you use a meme PFP yourself, has anyone ever commented on it or asked you to change it?

Thanks

Can HR listen to my previous 1-1 calls if end-to-end encrypted calls are turned off?

Hello, I had called one of my coworkers on teams about 2.5 weeks ago (just regular call, not a meeting) and I am trying to find out if my HR could pull the phone call and listen to it. I just checked my settings and end-to-end encrypted calls is turned off and grayed out, so I don’t have the option to turn it on. Does this mean they can pull the call and listen to it? We have shared call lines for departments, and I know when “customers” call those call lines their calls are recorded. But I am not sure if calling between employees themselves is recorded.

Hidden information in social engineering attacks

We are detecting a significant increase in messages related to social engineering attacks.
Attackers create an account using the names of high-ranking individuals within our company.
They somehow manage to hide the account details so that only the person's name—specifically the name of the individual they are impersonating—appears in the chat information.
The only indication that the chat is fraudulent is the "(External)" tag that appears next to the username.

How can we identify the originating account being used by the attacker? Why does Microsoft allow Teams to omit this information?

Teams add in not working on classic outlook for any new deployments

Losing my mind here - since Friday, any new machine deployments I do, I can't get the teams add-in to show in classic outlook. Normally this comes up occasionally and I just have to uninstall/reinstall the add-in or make sure it's enabled in Outlook settings, but no dice this time. I've tried almost every fix for this online that I can find and nothing is working (re-registered DLL, checked the LoadBehavior registry key, office repair, office reinstall, teams reinstall). Outlook shows the add-in is an active add-in and that it's installed, but the actual button to create a teams meeting in the ribbon doesn't show, and Teams does not show as a meeting provider in Outlook. This is happening on every fresh windows install I'm doing, I've tried updating the install medium as well with no dice. Anybody else seeing this?

They did it again!

Honestly how do you do this again? How do you keep making Microsoft Teams worse every single little update??

The last new chats layout was pretty useful, I only saw unread chats, but when I expanded my chats I could see them all, for when I want to start writing.

Now this has changed, I can expand my chats, but then I still only see unread chats. In other words: expanding has no use anymore:

How is it they never see this stuff? It's their jobs ffs! Same with the new Calendar, it's absolutely horrible compared to the old one...

Why is old Teams classic app still not updated to the newer Teams in macOS?

Why is old Teams classic app still not updated to the newer Teams in macOS? Shouldn't it be supposed telling me or done automatic? It says Classic isn't supported. I haven't used MS Teams for over a year since Zoom was used a lot. I noticed MS AutoUpdater doesn't even show MS Teams. Shouldn't that be doing Teams updates?

This is in an Intel MacBook Pro from 2020. Currently, it runs updated macOS Sequoia v15.7.7. MS Teams came from MS Office installer's download web page in https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac back in January 2020 IIRC. I had to use Teams' web version for an online meeting for today. :(

Here’s the difference between teams and channels

Hey all! Questions related to teams versus channels come up from time to time, so we wanted to pull together a centralized explainer to make the info you need easier to find.

TL;DR: Teams define the broad group, like an entire department in your org, who work across projects. Channels are where work happens within the team, organized around specific projects, workstreams or topics, hosting conversations, files, meetings, agents, and more.

Channels are open to the team by default, every conversation is searchable, anyone can participate, promoting transparency in decision making and unlocking agility with shared context and learning for ten or ten thousand.

Team or channel?

Designed for fewer, broader teams across large groups of people. In each team, you can have up to 1,000 channels, every team starts with a general channel. Create new channels as new projects come up, and archive or delete older ones that have outlived their purpose.

In addition to conversations and files, channels host integrations such as Microsoft 365 apps, Planner, Loop, and many more third-party applications.

Standard, shared, and private channels

Breaking it down further, there are three types of channels: standard, shared, and private. Standard channels are open to all team members, private channels are a focused subset of a team, and shared channels offer the flexibility to include people inside and outside the team and organization.

A standard channel is visible and accessible to all team members. The general channel is an example of a standard channel that can be used as a space for announcements or conversations outside of your other subject-specific channels.

Shared channels are best if you want to collaborate with people both inside and outside the team. You can even share a channel across multiple teams, bringing together collaborators from engineering, sales, and support for example. While guests can't be added to a shared channel, you can invite people outside your organization to participate in a shared channel by using Microsoft Entra B2B direct connect

Private channels can only be accessed by owners and members of the channel, selected from within the team. Anyone, including guests, can be added as a member of a private channel as long as they're existing members of the team.

Hope this clears it up! For more info: Understand teams and channels in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

How does your org decide when to create a new team or a new channel?

Is a true "Media/Images" tab in chats and channels still a demand or have people given up?

So, I recently built and launched a Teams add-on called "Image Gallery" that solves a question/problem people keep bringing up in this subreddit and other forums: How to see all images sent in a chat, including inline images? Basically, the "Media" tab that's known from other chat apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, Slack etc. but kind of missing in Teams.

As you all probably know, the Shared tab only shows files and images that were sent to the chat/channel as OneDrive or SharePoint attachments but not images or screenshots simply pasted into the compose box. I added some nice to have stuff on top like rich filtering and even local AI model powered text search inside images. Images are lazy loaded and then cached, meaning each user chooses for each chat/channel how far back they want to load & cache images.

I simply went off a couple of forum questions I kept seeing, I was annoyed by not seeing inline images myself and "because I can and it's fun to build" vibes for this one and made a product out of it.

What does everyone think? Is it something that bothers you as well or do you still hear a lot of people asking for such a feature?

Hi,

If a participant is dialled into a teams meeting, is
it possible to identify which participant initiated the dial in as part of the audit log / otherwise?
