The other day my mum gifted me £30,000 after the sale of a property and today Barclays have suspended my account, my mum's and my dad's. We have all phoned the bank but they've said they cannot say how long it will take.

From what I've searched I'm guessing it's money laundering checks? Anyone have any idea of how long it might take because I can't withdraw any money, use my card, and am now going to have to embarrassingly ask someone for money to get home from work.

29, single, renting, no car, no assets

Income: £42k

Debt: £49k

Bankruptcy isn’t available to me due to my job. I spoke with an organisation, 'UK Debt Expert', and after reviewing my bank statements, they've suggested an IVA and given me a proposal of 60 monthly payments of £150.00 (total of £9,000) which seems pretty good, considering I'm currently paying about £1.2k a month in debts and having to borrow money to get through the month!

My mum is in the process of selling a property and said she could help me to try and settle the IVA in a few months time..
