Saw the GB for this case on Geekhack plus I didn't have any kit to put the Venom60HE PCB on so I joined the GB. After 2 months waiting - which is pretty fast for a GB, I finally received it.
Design-wise, it was a must cop for people who want match their top-notch performance PCBs with showcasing purpose (gaming-ish stuffs sometimes can be cringe ikr). The top case was treated by anodizing and lazer engraving. Love the texture of the surface though I didn't like this trend of case finishing at first. The blue color really went well with my MW Sogurt R2 keycaps set for a pastel blue build. Volume knob felt tactile and premium fidgeting on and was recessively designed to preserve the integrity of the 60% layout.
On the bottom, aurora-arc side curves and bottom LED strips create bright and smooth lighting reflected on the table. The pair of semicirle silicone feets did their job of keeping the board in one place well.
About the internal, just want the team to shorten the knob's circuit cable length a bit because I can see that it clearly can be damaged by putting pcb on however you use PET film on the bottom or not.
Meletrix said the case kit version is for GH60 PCBs so I tried the kit with my old Wooting60HE PCB and it fit flawlessly as intended. However, I couldn't use my Venom60HE RGB 7U pcb with the included ANSI plate or any of their plate options so I came up with 2 solutions:
- Using a custom-made plate with the file I will provide later in this article.
- Using GH60 plates and friction-fit the PCB with Keysnaps (or PCBsnaps). The kit's internal has enough fulcrums for Keysnaps to stand firmly to serve your gaming session well (as long as you aren't easy to rage and slam on things). However, it's important that you add a layer of case foam under the PCBs raising it up to prevent pressure on the type-C connector.
To end the article, I'm satisfied with what I've bought and I hope that the team will provide more options of buying the kit with add-ons (Keysnaps/PCBsnaps or even their own friction-fit kit) or more plate's layout options.
