If I win you and leave, fine. If I lose and you leave, fine. If you win and then I win, and then you leave, that’s fine too. If I win, and then you win and then you leave, that’s terrible. Yes I understand it’s not that serious, I shouldn’t get tight about it, no one literally owes you a rematch, but I feel like when people say that they’re excusing shitty behavior, and enabling cowardly toxic behavior. Non locked sets (like ft2 only not asking for long sets lol) are a disservice to the community cause it only breeds self interested, rank obsessed bots who don’t care about learning matchups or even common courtesy. I almost respect it more if people just owned up to it like “yeah I just wanted my win and wanted you to be salty so I dipped.”

I feel gaslit when I explain this to people or read about it online and they focus on the complaint rather than the thousands of players making online matchmaking toxic. But with rank inflation, I doubt that Bandai Namco cares whether or not their players respect the spirit of competition.

“Sometimes pizzas at the door, or my baby’s crying or I have to use the restroom” I don’t think worth counterpointing, yeah it happens but we all know when we get fleeced.

Dissent and disagreement is more than welcome, but I don’t think a single person would understand this in Squaredcirlce. I feel like this is where i’m at, had phases of being into American Indies, Puro, etc in my younger days. But I always pay attention to WWE, whether it’s on fire, or complete garbage. Now in my 30’s if WWE is a product that isn’t creatively interesting, and if I have several disagreements w/ the way they conduct business, then I just think i’m cool off wrestling for a while. “Vote with your wallet” doesn’t automatically mean watching or supporting AEW, they turned it around, good for them, but writing off WWE and tuning into AEW is not mutually exclusive. Looking forward to watching more prestige dramas, spending more time w family, learning to cook more, getting my Tekken rank up, working out more, all those things sound more appealing to me than watching another company that quite honestly i’m not the demographic for, simply out of spite. I’m just not into wrestling that much anymore to do that.
