Chain Reaction in motion

1. We’ve already seen MIY’s Sophia puppet planting seeds in people’s minds that everything bad started after the Matthews family arrived.
2. MIY may have tricked Ethan by creating a hallucination of his father and using the Lake of Tears as bait. 
3. Ethan brings Tabitha and the others to the Lake of Fears. 
4. Roger is sacrificed (shouldn't have pulled that rope buddy)
5. Burned Patty is spared so she can “burn” Tabitha. She is left alive to become the town’s chatty Cathy witness. 
6. Patty heard Tabitha say, “They were mine.” That line can easily be twisted from accountability into blame. 
7. The town might also think of Dale’s death, since Tabitha’s tree story basically turned him into the pool decor. 
8. And if the town really turns on her, Jim’s death could get dragged into it too.
9. Shit hits the fan.

 

And this directly ties back to the first episodes of Season 1, when MIY convinced Sara that everyone will die unless she kills the people that arrived in the two cars.

Does Norman symbolize Jim?

After S4E2 and a rewatch of S1E9, the dots all lead back to the very beginning, where we first meet the Matthews family.

Norman dies in Julie’s story (s1e1)

Julie: “Norman, you’re gonna be okay. The secret fairies are on their way back from the Lake of Tears. They’re gonna fix you. No. The monster’s claws went too deep.” (it happens to Jim).

The dimensional shift

The road is suddenly empty. Not a single car in sight, even though it was packed with cars in the previous shot. I think this is the exact moment they shift into the FROM dimension, right after Norman’s death.

And now in the latest episode Julie tells Randal that she will story-walk to bring Jim back

Jim's Ghost (s4e2)

and Jim’s ghost tells Ethan: “The Lake of Tears is here, and I need you to find it.”

After that line, it took me straight back to the very beginning: Julie’s story about Norman and the Lake of Tears. And once we see Jim dead, hanging upside down, it also connects back to Tabitha’s S1E9 lighthouse vision, where she sees the Norman puppet and then Jim hanging upside down in the same vision. The dots are definitely starting to connect.

Tabitha sees the Norman finger puppet lying on the lighthouse steps. Seconds later, she sees Jim hanging upside down, which is exactly how she finds him dead in the latest episode..

Summary:

So Norman dies, the Lake of Tears is introduced as the thing that can bring him back, Norman appears again right before Tabitha sees Jim dead, and now dead Jim is the one sending Ethan to find the Lake of Tears.

That makes the Norman/Jim connection even harder to ignore.
