I opted to go with a pair of 225/45ZR18 Michelin PSAS4s, Costco gave me an awesome deal and mounted them in my loose wheels for free. The wheels in question are some cheap used 2022 BRZ rims I found on marketplace.

Went on a long drive with a friend very familiar with the platform yesterday, and I have to say, this was a great move! Performance is noticeably enhanced, it corners like even more of a monster. Fitment’s pretty good too, a lot better than stock imo. Total for both wheels + tires worked out to be $1300.

Next up: body roll. I’m gonna begin with struts, and I’m looking at coil overs as a more long term upgrade. I wanna get that roll down and corner well while still retaining daily comfort. Also wanna get that ride height lower. Again, trying to keep cost down, and I plan to self install everything. Please leave me some suggestions!

I just picked up a Legacy 2.5GT limited, and I’m looking to give my wheels + tires an upgrade. I really value handling on the road, especially corner performance. This car may be driven *passionately* on roadways after a day of commuting. Also worth noting I live in a very rainy environment on roads that have seen better days.

I’m looking at moving to an 18” wheel, and ideally a 8” width (and a +45 offset if anyone is wondering, as I’ve read that’ll have the best looking fitment, but do feel free to give feedback).

After doing some wheel shopping, I found some 2022 BRZ wheels for $400 in my area. They’re 7.5”, which would limit me to 225s. Those BRZ wheels would save a few hundred dollars, but I’d lose out on the performance of the wider tire. For reference, I also plan to do some basic suspension upgrades like a thicker rear sway bar and some strut braces.

Is the performance difference really noticeable enough to warrant paying ~$600 more for wheels, plus the little premium for wider tires? Will the performance be broadly similar enough, and I should just suck up and enjoy the better gas mileage?
