2005 LGT LTD eat's headlights?

Hi all, I've had my LGT for a long time... 16 years I think. And pretty much like clockwork, I have to replace headlight bulbs about once a year. Sometimes more often. About half of the time I get them replaced under warranty at O'Reilly's since they have a year warranty, but they don't like to give you replacements on "replacements" (as opposed to ones that you paid for). But I'm just wondering if this is just my car, or are they all like this? I had to jump start my car tonight (because I left a door open for 3 days) and just as it started, the drivers side flashed and went out. It's just 3 months old......

Baby’s First Mods

Little bit of appearance, and quite a bit of boom. Shoutout to Midwest Vinyl Master on Etsy for the matte black/gloss black badge cover vinyls, they look great just to give a little bit of change. Kinda scheming on changing the red grille stripe to green using vinyl…

Husband and I spent the afternoon wiring up an 8” Rockville sub under the back of the passenger seat. He has the same setup in his ‘25 Sport, but a 10” he had in is previous vehicle (‘21 Silverado) that sticks out just a smidge too much in the Legacy. Amazon for the Rockville sub kit, AutoHarnessHouse.com for the sub adaptor harness. Running the power cable SUCKED, but it sounds phenomenal!

Finicky trunk on a 2017 Subaru legacy

In the spring we bought a 2017 Subaru legacy, which we're very happy with except for one thing: the trunk opening mechanism is on the fritz

I've never been able to open it with the key. Since I got it, the success rate opening it with the button on my fob has been going down. It's definitely less than 50%

I don't understand these things at all. I couldn't begin to guess what's going on with it. It just won't open sometimes, but then I'll come back around to the car again and suddenly it opens.

I've tried googling it and I find advice to pull out one of the back seats, crawl into the trunk, and open it from within. But I don't think you can take out a backseat on a 2017 legacy?? Even if I could, that would be difficult if the trunk is full

We're moving cities at the end of the month, so pretty soon it's going to be a real problem if we can't reliably open the thing

Do I just take it to a mechanic, or am I missing something obvious here??

Thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Online shopping in Japan + a few freebies getting out of hand.

I didn't plan on it initially but things just been spiralling a bit 😅 In winter there's no time to do anything but surf the auctions now it's summer there's a big birthday for her coming soon. Alot of Cusco stuff which is plentiful on the used auctions. Just need to find the time after a new addition to the family. Coilover lowers already cleaned up, wing and bumper in process waiting paint, other parts probably get a coat of metallic blue 2k caliper paint. Kinda waiting to have the bumper painted to pull the whole front off and do the timing belt water pump at the same time.

The bad girl in the background is my RSRA project car, sitting on ice for now cause my wife says it's not a priority 😆, Blue 555 is my daily.

Code P0483

Hi yall! I’m new to the Subaru world. I have an 02 legacy Gt limited. I had code P0483 come up, I replaced the thermostat, and gasket. I noticed with the old thermostat I was like pissing out coolant. With the new thermostat in, I’m still losing coolant, I used a gasket sealer on the thermostat housing when I replaced the new thermostat and gasket. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? I have replaced relays, all fuses are good, when I idle or the car is parked I lose all my coolant. I know my AC compressor is dead, but I haven’t been running my AC. I’m going through atleast 10 or more jugs of coolant a week🙃 my fans spin freely. I haven’t yet overheated but it’s definitely trying too🙁

2018 2.5i Premium, new to us: random beeping??

Just picked up a used 2018 2.5i Premium for my son, and we love this car! And, dare I say: this may be the best looking year for this car…? 👍👍

Anyway, there are loads of features in this thing that we have no idea about how to make sense of… and, not being person who originally configured the vehicle, I’m not entirely sure what to expect out of most of it! Eyesight and the lane assist feature were surprise features that we weren’t expecting, and I think this is where my question comes from: randomly while driving around town, the car will just beep at us. It’s a “happy beep“ if there is such a distinction… But nothing comes up on the dash to tell us why it beeped, and we have the lane assist feature turned off as indicated by the orange indicator light on the dash.

What could this beeping be from??

Subaru legacy 2011 3.6r trans rebuild?

Okay I need some mechanic advice. I have a 2011 Subaru legacy 3.6r, when I bought it the transmission went out, so I paid for a used transmission, it's not at 165k miles and I'm told again I need a new transmission or a rebuild.

Rebuild would be $5400- but I'd have to take another loan out to fix this thing. I owe about $6000 on the car. Financially I know that I'd be at a loss when comparing it to the value of the car, but I can't afford to buy a new car and pay on a car that rots in a driveway.

My actual question: is there something really wrong with these transmissions to the point a rebuild would just be delaying another total fail?

My luck ran out

Unfortunately about 2 weeks ago my car got burned/set on fire. I got injured at work and couldn’t afford full coverage. The car is paid off due to another settlement I received last March. This year I got hurt at work and I am still out of work due to a painfully slow process of everything. Being on a fixed income where you only get 2/3 of your weekly wages is so difficult especially when you don’t make that much to begin with. With that being said I only put liability coverage on my car. Through no fault of my own my dad’s deck caught on fire and cooked my car sitting in his driveway and his homeowners policy won’t cover it. What’s the likelihood the engine got damaged? It’s a 2025 Subaru legacy Sport 2.4L You can’t see it in the picture but the passenger door got burned too. I know I should not drive it as a precaution. This is not an autobody question. It’s a question asking if this is safe to drive or not. Should I risk driving it to an autobody shop? My dad says I should just start it because he doesn’t see any damage, but I said there could be damage on the inside you don’t see. I would rather not have to replace the engine too

EDIT: Subaru did contact me and say that starlink said that the check engine light was on, the eyesight system was down and rear breaking

EDIT #2: I will post close up pictures of the where the bumper melted, inside the engine bay and the wheel well. Please let me know if y’all want anymore specific pictures that I did not mention and I will add them to this post in the next couple days. I appreciate all y’all’s help

Does anyone know this part number or any options for replacement? 2nd gen legacy outback (98)

The plastic trim piece that covers the aluminum trim piece around windows and doors. I know it's prolly unobtainium but figured I'd ask what others have done. I feel like you could pull it off and paint under it but idk how great it would look. Mine are starting to crack pretty bad. Thanks !

Troubleshooting help

Hey, I’ve been working on a 99 legacy outback for about a year and a half. Did a Manual swap from a 97 a year ago, replaced all of the seals and deep cleaned when I did the swap. I still got a semi minor leak from what I think is the little corners on the valve covers.

Recently I have been getting what I think is a connection issue with the starter. When i try and start it, it’ll pause for 1-2 seconds then normally start up. Or it won’t at all, which then I’ll unplug the battery and mess around till it wants to turn over.

Once it’s warm or even barely warm (I’ve started it 4-5 hrs after coming home) it’ll start up no issue but if it’s completely cold she is temperamental.

This all started 2 weeks ago when I did about a 6 hour drive to CO and back. My throttle cable came loose mid drive and I had to turn it off and figure that out.

I’ll add pictures and videos describing everything I’ve said. In the startup vid my key is turned the entire time. Thanks!
