What kind of bs design is this?
Noticed a buildup around the taillights and took the plastic cover off to uncover even more buildup

Hey everyone, first time car buyer here. I live in the rust belt (we get a lot of snow in the winters with subzero temps) and I am in my early 20s. Plan to drive the car until the wheels fall off. Insurance is pretty much equal between both, with the 2012 winning that battle. Looking for a car that is reliable and easy to work on/DIY repair and maintain, and not a fan of the high tech/fancy cars.... don't really care about much else to be honest. I will use this to drive on the highway/city roads if that helps, mostly for pleasure.

Hi all,
I am currently fighting with an insurance adjuster over tire replacement on our 2022 Legacy. It took a hit in the right rear and he only wants to approve replacing the one tire. I sent him the page from the owners' manual (page 519) that says "For safe vehicle operation, SUBARU recommends replacing all four tires at the same time. " I mistakenly quoted the "2/32 rule", he now wants chapter and verse for the 2/32 tread difference. Can anyone point me to anything from Subaru that says that. I see many, many references to it on the Internet, but none of them are actually from Subaru.
Thanks
Bill
Got her out and about, just ordered some air suspension for it so last lil trek out til the install
The price for this was so cheap I couldn't help but buy it.
Can't wait to get it installed!
Just a quick question. At what point would you become concerned that fabrication is taking so long? I don't want to name any company at the moment, but I ordered a full exhaust from headers on back at the beginning of March.... I waited about 6 weeks and never got any updates. Emailed...no contact back.
Followed up with a call/text and then did get a response (via text) that they were working on it still and were a 'few weeks' away. That was as of the end of April. Now it's 5/18 and have not gotten any other updates. Should I be worried? Is it standard for it to take this long to fab and ship? I know it's a small company but they are somewhat well known. I'm not in a huge rush or anything...more just wondering if this is normal? Should I be more concerned or not at all? I'm kind of planning on waiting until the end of this week and then reaching out again but don't want to be "that" customer either... Would love to know what experience y'all have had. Thanks in advance!
Hello
Last summer I bought a 2011 Subaru legacy 2.5i with 151,000 miles for $2000. After some maintenance repairs I’m in for about $2500. I brought it into my mechanic for an overall inspection, they let me know my head gaskets are blown and leaking coolant. I was quoted $4100 for the repair(that price includes sending the cylinder heads to a machine shop)
Besides the head gaskets, the car is in perfect condition and would require no other work.
I have another vehicle that I drive daily and I bought the Subaru on a whim due to the seemingly good deal on the price I was getting, so I’m not in any hurry to handle this situation.
Currently weighing all my options, any suggestions on what I should do?
I know these aren't "good" pics but I like them.
I am totally down to receive any tips on how to get decent shots (also half of these were on a digi cam)
I bought this steering wheel back in December of ‘25. I had Carbontastic customize it for me and it looks beautiful. Core came out of a 2010 Outback but fits perfectly in my 2011 Legacy. Swapped over the wiring harness. Torqued to spec! Looks even better that I imagined.
I bought this used tein coilovers to put in my 93 legacy, but i cant lower the lower spring seat, I cleaned the threads on the collars and managed to loosen them, but I can't loosen the lower spring seat at all. any help?
After importing a handful of cars for myself and family I finally got the fund to go after the legacy I wanted. The newest Gen still available with a Manual, and only available as a wagon outside North America. Not perfect by any means but def something I think will be a blast as a family vehicle. 91,000kms $703,000¥.
What do you think? Considering a build series on my YT channel.
I purchased a Subaru Legacy sedan about 4 months ago and I've already put about $2800 in work into it. Dealership sold it to me with winter tires on and an extra set, but the extra set was too worn, so I needed new tires once winter was over. The battery died the first time we got deep cold, so I had to replace it. Tire patching a couple days from purchase due to a slow leak. Then within a couple months it was making a racket over bumps and the brakes started squeaking and having weird sensations when braking. I had to get new sway bars, and full brake work done, some rusting (I don't remember everything that was involved) and fluid changed.
Now I'm a couple weeks from that repair and I'm starting to notice weird behaviors with acceleration and deceleration. When I come to a stop it, it sometimes shudders. The sensation is akin to stopping with a manual without pushing in the clutch (this car is an automatic) and the first time it happened my foot flew to look for a clutch because I've always driven manual prior to this car. The car didn't stall, but it does seem to happen the first time I come to a complete stop every time I drive it.
I also have issues with rapid acceleration in the first few minutes of driving, like if I'm accelerating to get up a hill, sometimes the car revs and rpms climb, but I don't see a parallel surge in effort in the car.
I'm not sure if this is related, but in the winter, the first several minutes of the car driving were very loud too. When I looked it up originally the answer I got from ChatGPT was that CVT transmissions are known to be loud while warming up.
I've not driven an automatic in years and never a CVT, is this transmission issues? Are Subaru Legacies known to be money pits? Did I buy a lemon? I'm stressing about how expensive this used car is turning out to be so rapidly. Only 76k miles when I bought it.
So I’ve had 2 sellers on Amazon say that they would be unable to guarantee that the CarPlay unit would work with my current system as my wiring has been “modified” in my Japanese imported 04 legacy
Any help on installation or any pointers as I’d love a modern CarPlay (replacing old screen and keeping the radio) unit in my legacy.
Cheers.
Still a large project/work in progress, but here’s some photos of how it currently looks. Was originally a pre-facelift ‘11 Outback. Now had a 13/14 Legacy Front Clip on it (ignore the spot in the middle of the bumper, I have a new one coming next week) Lowered on Gecko Coilovers (upgrading to FortuneAutos soon)
Have just recently purchased this 2007 Subaru Legacy/Liberty 2.5i Naturally Aspirated with 104,000 miles on the clock as my first car. Although after having a look with the torch it seems to either be leaking either oil or dark green coolant (or both) from the passenger side.
Picture 1 is showing the rough area of where it is leaking down below.
Picture 2 and 3 are the photos of the leak in question.
Seems to drive smooth and does not overheat.
I dont know much about cars, but I can definitely take a guess as to what is wrong, just didnt think it would happen so soon.
Any help or info is appreciated!
Hi guys, I have a 2017 Legacy Limited 2.5i (125763 miles) and I’ve been trying to install my Sony XAV-AX4000. I bought the HRN-HRR-SU2 subaru harness, the ADS-MRR2 Maestro Unit, and the Acc-HU-SON1 harness (alongside a usb retention cable and a 12v to 6v converter for the oem backup camera). I can see gauges, the back up camera works fine, but i’m not getting audio when I have my car fully on outside. I am getting audio when im in ACC mode when only one press with the push to start button, but no audio when fully on. Weirdly enough, I do get audio when my car is in the garage fully on.
When I say no audio, I get one .5ms sound of my song playing, 5 seconds of silence, and the cycle continues.
Please help 🙏🙏. I thought it was the starlink module but I’ve fully unplugged it and it has same results in and out of the garage. Maybe I didn’t do the starlink cable right, but it said to connect it to a pink or blue and white cable that has a 8 pin connector that goes to the OEM radio.
You have to choose one of these generations and colors, which are you choosing and why? (Every spec and trim is available)
Car is at port, and has gotten allocation on a vessel. How bad is this? I am thinking of sandblasting with garnet or aluminum oxide and then cerakote.
