Feeling furious, might delete later !
Recently finished a video call with just the father of a prospect guy. Welcome to Bihar diaries of an arrange marriage.
On video call, his father asked me first to walk around in the house to see how I walk. Shocked but I did.
Then 2 mins later he asked me to change in a saree and again asked me to walk.
Feeling bizzare but still walked the 2nd time and almost lost my cool when he noticed my hesitation and said you’re like my daughter only. See if you can manage to get me full length view of yourself and walk.
Sheepishly I said I’ll try. After a quick cry from the heart and with help of my mom holding the laptop I showed them my full length profile . My dad is also on the call feeling sorry for me but what can he do?
This wasn’t enough, the photographs my dad sent wasn’t enough, so he asked me to click a picture tomorrow and share it with him. Itna recent photograph toh maine apne office ki joining mein bhi nhi diya!
And please note it’s just him on VC because why should I see the guy as well ? He will assess me first then report to his family and if everything goes well then I’ll be allowed to meet with his son. And guess what he again wants to visit at my home to do the same things again , this time in person.
I hate this process of arrange marriage especially the way it’s done in Bihar. I’m tired of being treated like an object by these so called uncles who keep lecturing us about sanskar and the way of our living.
Atleast we don’t make the other person wanna kill themselves.
And just to add more perspective, I’m 5’5” engineer , doing MBA from an IIM with a well paying job! (I.e Me and the guy earns similar and he’s 2 years older than me)
FUCK society coz this ain’t even happening for the first time 😤😖
So angry that I’m gonna cry now and when I come back will probably delete this post too coz clearly I haven’t thought a single thing before writing this post so if you can’t be kind don’t say nothing at all coz it’s only going to make things worse!
