Hi all! I have a question concerning my two sternum dermals I got almost five weeks ago.
So both piercings are healing wonderfully, I haven't had any issues with them so far, EXCEPT for the fact that my piercer told me to keep them covered with band-aids for the first six weeks and the skin surrounding the piercings atp is kind of reaching its limit, due to constantly being exposed to band-aid adhesive. Now, it's not suuuper bad or terribly irritated but it has been constantly moderately red and itchy for the past 2 weeks now. I think what made it worse is that I once used band-aids that were different from the ones I normally use (which are for sensitive skin), which made me have a mild allergic reaction and a rash (thankfully not touching the piercings). That was probably two weeks ago and since then, the skin irritation has gone down but not entirely dissapeared. I've always had sensitive skin that reacted to adhesives so I'm actually surprised it's been holding up relatively well for almost five weeks.
The constant itching is pretty annoying and it would only be one and a half weeks to go anyways, so I was wondering if it would be fine to stop with the band-aids a littler sooner than what my piercer told me? Like I said, the piercings are doing great, so I think I shouldn't be at a high risk, right? I'm just a little anxious to go against what my piercer said.
