So uhhh check your meds before a piercing (TW: blood)
Just leaving this post here for anyone with a similar experience to find, because when I had just gotten these 3 helix piercings I was scared shitless since I could find nobody with nearly the same amount of bleeding as I was having.
This amount of blood was BRUTAL and almost impossible to clean up: it literally never stopped bleeding (I had to take my physics final whilst holding sterile bandages to my ear lmao), would only ever solidify into those hard chunks you can see after a whole night of sleeping completely still, and those were obviously hell to remove since they incapsulated the ends of the bars.
I thought I was doing something wrong when cleaning it, turns out that the SSRI that I had recently switched to has a side effect of delaying clotting. In my case, this meant not clotting at all basically. The ungodly reason I didn't know this information is that I had switched a few medications already and this was my 5th, so it ended up being quite literally the only time that I have ever forgotten to read a medication's instructions, and on top of that my doctor entirely forgot to mention it to me.
Luckily for me, like the others before it, this medication was doing nothing for me, so I was able to basically quit it on day 3 of having the piercing. Slowly it got better, and by day 6 the incessant bleeding had stopped (admittedly pretty fast, so I'm assuming that if you are having this issue you could expect to have to wait a little more than that while still being okay)
Pleeeaaase see a doctor if this happens so that they can take a look at your medication and decide whether to stop it or to give you something else to clot properly. DO NOT JUST QUIT YOUR MEDS, even if you realize they are the problem. I decided to rawdog the whole experience because I have always dealt with wounds and had a good working medical knowledge of my overall situation, so I knew what doctors were gonna do anyway. It is not a simple internet search however, your piercing can also very very easily get infected if it stays this open of a wound for long. I was lucky to already be in exam season and thus able to stay at home to rinse more often and be in a clean environment.
Hoping this can help someone and horrify someone else lmao.
