Here's hoping 'Close-Quarters' will eventually include Shotguns 🙏.

Here's hoping 'Close-Quarters' will eventually include Shotguns 🙏.

From today's warcom, Close-Quarters is replacing 'Pistols', i'm assuming to be more widely applicable for other models/factions just like the changes to grenades and tankshock.

Id like just for flavours sake that Navy Breacher Shotguns get this (by rule update or detachment). Its called Close quarters barrage after all 😁.

*Caveating this post as 'fun speculation' for the benefit of the 'too soon to tell' police.*

Hey all,

I've jumped back in recently to playing my agents again weekly and have been considering what will fundamentally change for us when playing 11th editon. This could be upsides, downsides and even viability improvements to things not used previously.

So heres some of my notes and keen to here everyone elses:

Detachment Purgation Force - Its still my favourite and will only go up from here considering how much better ignores cover is going to be. I will often still take 2 units of Breachers and attach a Priest so they become a 'Ordo Heriticus' unit allowing them to access the strats e.g FNP, Shoot Into Combat, and -1 to hit which im hoping will stack with -1bs from the new cover rules.

Immolators - Firing the heavy bolter first to give ignores cover on an enemy unit.

Corteaz - Being able to remove cover from an enemy unit in 18" might persuade me to take this over a regular Inquisitor on occasion if I have the 20 points spare. He doesn't need line of sight of the enemy unit either.

Kroyle (New) - Him giving reroll hits for your whole army agaisnt a unit shot is a great bit of tech for us.

I may consider including Voidsmen more often since they will be able to fish for lethals more. But in general this improves so much for our Hunter Killers, Multi Meltas, Demo Charge,l etc and reduces the feels bad on things like Breachers when spend cp on things like close quarters barrage converting more hits. Heck the Vindicare might even hit now!

Sisters - I can see these getting played more by association, due to Immolaters being a good tech now.

Still great and must have - Breachers, Subductors, Sanctifiers, Draxus, Vanilla Inquisitor, Rogue Trader for the same old reasons.

Questionable units:

Assasins - With Kroyle cover the same bases as a survivable lone opp for secodary scoring and also being a force multipliers that can hit monster hard I cant see my self taking 2 assasins ever anymore. I think Kroyle will be an auto include and then maybe take 1 assasin at 110 pts to flex into a particular match up , but I might not take any all the same.

Inquistorial Agents - Ever so slightly improved. AP1 guns now mean something and they are one of our few natural BS3 units, but still short range and squishy. Im willing to try a 12 man unit in a Chimera for 4 heavy bolters with sustained AP1 D2 as something that may be able to wittle away space marine units. That said probably still filler after youve taken everything else.

Grey Knights - Psycannons are now better again due to AP1 eating something now. 4up invulnerable save means more so since 2+sv models will be likely taking 3+/4+ saves now. Good anchor still in Fleet being able to have 4OC models but still abit expensive for a 5 man unit. If they can ever be taken in a 8-10 man blob im very interested.

Exacation Squads - Slightly more interesting since their soul guilt scanner gives ignores cover to the unit. Medi Pack and lethal+precision on one unit are ok. If Purgation Force becomes more viable as a result of the core rules changes space cops might be fun!

Corvus Black Star - Always hitting on 3+ thanks to the Auspex Array (Ignores Cover) and now a 2+ with Fleets Eliminate At All costs means is got decent chance of destroying a vehical a turn with its Las and Rockets. Has smoke too but again its expensive and a flyer so probably sees zero play still in non DW focussed lists.

Changes to the core rules regarding list composition and objective scoring.

Multiple detachments: Im assuming we'll get more or atleast a rework of what we have already. If theres a universe where Imperialis Fleet + something else becomes a thing it could be fun but if detachments remain as they are and or Fleet is a single take then not much changes. I would be very happy if Fleet + Purgation Force is possible but let's see.

For mission scoring my hope is its got to add options beyond jailing and rushing primary. Hopefully theres tricksy strategies to be cooked here.

That's my brain dump, whats everyone elses thoughts?
