CATEGORIES
- Ok with category-specific cards?: Yes
- Ok with rotating category cards?: Yes
- Estimate average monthly spend in the categories below.
- Dining $: 250
- Groceries $: 400 (Primarily Walmart+ delivery on east coast, might switch to something else after moving to west coast in 2 months)
- Gas $: 0 for now but I do plan to get a car by the end of 2026
- Travel $: ~$500 ($100 ubers, $100 public transport, $300 saving up for travel). I travel internationally once a year on Virgin Atlantic. I plan to take atleast 2 domestic vacations this year so I want to start building a domestic airline loyalty as well. I use some Marriott benefits through my dad's membership but I don't have anything similar of my own.
- Using abroad?: Only for vacations, max duration being one week.
- Other categories or stores: I shop for most my clothes online from various brand websites and Amazon. I can probably pay rent with credit card at my new place and home utilities also are a very big spend for me, any savings here would go a long way.
- Other spend: Major expense is student loan. Can't pay with card though.
- Pay rent by card? Yes, amount and fee: ~$2500, not sure about penalty
MEMBERSHIPS & SUBSCRIPTIONS
- Amazon Prime member: Yes
- Big bank customer: Chase Student account. Plan to shift my main account to SoFi soon.
PURPOSE
- Purpose of next card: Travel Rewards and Cashback
- Travel rewards preferences: Nothing right now, open to exploring. Primary rental car CDW would also be a nice perk to have.
- Cards being considered: Chase Saphhire Preferred, Amex Gold
