Sub sandwich in SD

I am a visitor to this lovely place and am looking for a top notch sandwich. For me, a damn good sub sandwich gets me a similar dopamine hit as a damn good steak. A good club, Italian, or I’d also be open to a corned beef or pastrami on rye situation…

Tl;dr: looking for food/beach/safety tips and general recommendations!

Hi everyone!

I am going to be staying in Ocean Beach for a couple months for an internship and would like any advice/tips/recommendations for San Diego! Any must see/do/eat/experience would be awesome! Some things I’m particularly interested in are: food/coffee/dessert recs? I am here on my own and feel a little weird eating at sit down places on my own, but all recommendations are welcome! Best sandwich and casual is what I’m particularly interested in. Is Ocean Beach generally safe? I am a pretty big guy, but do I need to be worried about leaving things in my car or windows open overnight at the place I’m staying? Best beach access in ocean beach or nearby beach’s? I am between to ocean beach pier and sunset cliffs. A lot of it looked rocky walking around tonight, would love to know where more stereotypical beach access is. I was closer to sunset cliffs. Maybe opposite side of the pier? With that, tips for how to keep your things safe when going to the beach solo would be appreciated as well. Thank you all! Any knowledge is helpful!
