A Gweenpool Origin Theory that's been haunting me for years
Spoilers for Secret Wars I, II, 2015, and our Gweenpool Marvel Actual Play if you've been watching it (I know some of you have and I'm so grateful for your subs and views 💜💜💜)
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
And well no real spoilers for Gwen since this is only a hopeful theory, one that likely won't come to pass because I genuinely think it's unintentional parallels, but it's so close that I can't help but wish it was intentional.
Without further ado: I feel like it would make A LOT of sense if Gweenpool was a Beyonder.
Beyonders for those that don't know are entities that live in the beyond, a zone within the Outside, a cosmic region "beyond" the Multiverse that essentially exists outside the known multiverse.
Very importantly it is a "place of blank whiteness filled only by the Beyonders and their machines" not unlike the spaces outside of the panels Gwen works within.
Also importantly the "Beyonders employ the Enigma Force (sometimes called the Omega Force) to give themselves nearly infinite power". In other words reality warping and beyond. No pun intended. Not unlike what Gwen does but uncontrolled.
The most famous Beyonder is "the Beyonder" whose "development was disturbed when a hole was poked in the edge of reality, allowing him to see into the universe beyond".
For extra context the Beyonder was essentially brought into existence when the more cohesive hive mind like Beyonders created the Molecule Man in every universe by having him do an experiment that effectively pieces a whole from their universes into the Beyond.
So effectively the various Molecule Men variants poked a hole into the Beyond and from it the Beyonder (a child Beyonder) was made to witness the Multiverse which made him curious and made him want to interact with said multiverse by having various heroes and villains compete on Battle world.
Now what does this have to do with Gwen?
Gwenpool became a superhero via a portal that gave her a glimpse into the comic world which made her want to play and interact within the comic world and interact with the various heroes.
Doesn't that sound quite similar to the beyonder?
What if "the real world" for her is really just the Beyond or a created memory she used to bring herself into existence as it were.
At very least what if the Beyonders are the ones who transported her to 616 (and the various other variants to their respective universes).
The parallels, in particular the white space/beyond, in particular her reality warping abilities, all of it just feels way to similar to he coincidental.
And if it is, Marvel editors, I really wish this was canon.
Because effectively, that would make her a brother to the Beyonder and effectively one of the many cosmic Beyonders living outside of reality.
Anywho I'm so obsessed with this theory that I'm going to bring it to our Marvel Multiverse actual play.
So if this theory interests you, stay tuned for our next season.
Not self promotion mind you, I had this theory way before we started our show but I'm especially curious what the thoughts of you fellow Gwenheads are about this!
