Should I do a One-Shot?

I started running a campaign for some friends from work last year and the campaign is still going now. I have a few more friends from work who are interested in joining. They’ve never played before, and one has never played a TTRPG before either.

An idea that came to me, instead of immediately dropping them into the established campaign, is to run a one-shot with them and the rest of the group, just so they can get a handle of the game and the mechanics. Should I do that or should I just immediately get them involved in the ongoing campaign?

If do run a one-shot, should I just do one of the premade ones or should I come up with an original one?

MMRPG : **Justice & Hollow Points** Original(Actual Play) Session 1

*Coming back from "^(DEADPOOL Roleplays The Marvel Universe)" Mostly Mature Audiences ONLY!*

This time with DEADPOOL making commentaries breaking 4th wall 🧱

DEADPOOL tries to make up with MERCS for MONEY! for the fiasco he almost got them killed in ("DEADPOOL Roleplays The Marvel Universe"). He offers them a lucrative Job offer he passed on to the group, "what do you mean a missing flowers delivery! Do I look like a Florist " but as always it's an offer they can't refuse. What did we get involved in domestic violence maybe, Parent planning, Health Care, X-Men, Krakoa, Gangland Violence, Ambush's again, Skull with Crossbone's, Chemicals, Personal Growing Pains, Stink of the City, and Pajama Party's, NOW WHAT?

Character Pack: Friends and Foes of Iron Man

This is probably the longest I've worked on a character pack. A lot of the concepts started right after the Avengers book dropped, and I wanted to take this as an opportunity to test out the new mechanics for technology-empowered characters. Well, I kept getting ideas for new concepts and ways to push boundaries. Also, my research on the characters I was planning led me to new characters I hadn't considered before, but could now be brought to life. There's an old joke in the Marvel fandom that "the only good Iron Man villain is Jack Daniels" but if you dig beneath the surface Tony's rogues gallery has a lot of untapped potential. This was originally intended to focus on the Hammer and Stane families, plus some core Stark Industries members. But as I started building them and thinking about how they would work, I got ideas for more toys to give them. I suppose that's appropriate for a character based around invention and modification.

Is phasing OP?

Am I reading this right? As long as someone is phasing? They cannot be affected physically? But they could still use mental powers to affect others? Is this OP?

Creating Custom Power Sets and Powers

Has anyone tried creating custom power sets or do you usually just try to make an established power from the books fit into your power theme? Example, I want to create a hero who can manipulate gravity in order to become more agile (by making himself lighter), able to pick up and toss heavy objects, and generate a field of heightened or lessened gravity to immobilize nearby foes (crushing them to the ground or suspending them in the air).

In Demiplane I pretty much just have to pick existing powers and translate them into his power theme.
EXAMPLE: For my hero, Vector, I took the following Power-sets: Elemental Control-Force, Super-Strength, Telekinetics and Martial Arts
To leap higher and further like Spiderman, I take Leap and increase his agility ability score.
To hit harder and throw villains when they are weightless, I have Clobber, Smash, Focused Strike
To make a field of high gravity, Ground Shaking Smash
To become weightless I took Levitate
To Immobilize a foe or alter their point of gravity, Force Grab / Push
I use Force Sphere to make a protective sphere that creates hyper-gravity to lessen or negate damage from projectiles
etc...

Looking for a Marvel Multiverse RPG group total beginner but super eager to jump in anyone looking?

I’ve never actually played a TTRPG before but I’ve been wanting to for a while now, and Marvel Multiverse RPG feels like the perfect way to finally dive in. I’ve already got two character ideas brewing so the motivation is definitely there lol.
If anyone is running a game or putting a group together and has room for an enthusiastic newcomer, I’d love to get involved. I’m down to play online Discord, Roll20, whatever works for the group. Just shoot me a message and let’s make it happen!

How do characters determine starting equipment?

As the title says. I'm debating whether or not to put points in telepathic blast so I have an offensive option, or to rely on my connections and/or authority (i have extra occupation: leader/military) to get a weapon. Would authority or military connections be an acceptable excuse to start with, say, a laser rifle? Or is there some other way that starting equipment is determined? Thanks in advance.

This is an event that can happen in the official Deadpool adventure. The dMarvel x 2 that the adventure use for the damage, should use the one from the agility roll or should I just roll a d6 to determine the damage?

New player here. How do I build Primal's Hyper-Instincts in MMRPG?

From Primal's marvel wiki page:

>Hyper-instincts: He is able to find solutions to any of civilization's problems that he faces given the right motivation. Place him near a fridge he will eat what will keep him alive and most likely stay in top physical form. Place him in a court room and he will develop the intellect and eloquence to win a trial.

I'm interested in building a character who is mentally adaptable to a superhuman degree, able to instantly and automatically analyze and understand any environment or situation and how to use it to her advantage. However, there doesn't appear to be an equivalent power in the core rulebook. I don't technically have a game to play in yet, but I want to be prepared in case I do, so I'm starting at rank 1. Any suggestions?

Sharing Easy to make , Cost Effective game counters or figure basing . That are durable an long lasting

These are a cheap cost , highly use durable counters or figure based that use cost effective materials. Useing a Quarter to cut around a coin the size of a Quarter , and with self adhesive foam sheets for the bottom makes them easy to pick up an move on the board , less prone to be sliding around , and duct tape to cover the top of the card plastic as base colour and add stickers or glue art for counter or glue 17mm to 19mm to the base.

Editing Jessica Jones

I’m planning on playing Jessica Jones, but a lot of her powers are just punching hard. Are there any Powers/Abilities that would help with investigating or her detective work? I’m new and haven’t dug through all the powers yet.

New guy question

Clobber - a successful attack deals regular damage. On a fantastic success, it's double damage.

So......how does Clobber differentiate from a normal melee attack? Don't they both deal regular damage?

Clearly, I'm missing something.

Session 1 of my new campaign was something else

Just some fun asides

I'm playing with very close friends so alot of this is them being hooligans as I am their forever dm.

  1. our mutant assassin is in a very toxic yaoi relationship with Selene so I know horrible things are going to happen for everyone. Probably involving a one way ticket down a volcano

  2. Our time displaced hero is a Tasmanian Abariginal that was experemented on by the Tasmanian shadow government and made into the Vindicada (A Secada themed super soldier i cant escape bug heros) and has awoken from from one her long slumbers is still catching up on things since she last was awake hangs out with captain america in a support group way.

  3. we have a young spirit of vengeance who's whole personality is Weed and CKY videos as he's the the ghost rider on a skate board. Buys Weed from Magik because she has that "dank ass krakoan pack that shit cures cancer and shit." Possibly deeply in love with nova we will see how that works out.

  4. We have a devil lawyer named devil advocate who his player is about to start law school so play what you know friend

  5. The character who is a ex mob heavy turned superhero is a God damn ray of sunshine and is the heart of this group already was also swindled by Johnny storm at one of Things poker nights and is possible out $25,000

  6. It always comes back to punching Nazis which yes it does fuck Nazis

  7. Squirrel Girl was surprisingly not hit on but then again she was only in a background set up scene for a characters backstory but we do know she makes a ok collage level science lab partner along with Miles Ty and Tandy

  8. Valerie Cooper had a conversation with a talking alien cow

  9. one of my players is a talking alien cow who heals people with his hyper pasteurized super peptoid dangerously fortified milk (it's a barnyard situation you understand.)

  10. one of my players is essentially a sorcerer kamen rider and now is a proud sponsor of the Strange Academy as a reputable arcane and alchemical supplier to the school for all the students.

Need help with civilian rescue scenarios

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice for a session I’m prepping.

Briefly: my campaign is set in the MCU during Thanos' Snap. Norman Osborn has become Mayor by campaigning on a platform of distrust toward the Avengers (especially after their recent defeat). In the first session, the players will be part of Luke Cage’s Heroes for Hire.

As a first mission to test their skills and get a handle on the situation, since crime is at an all time high and Norman has formed a special task force to hunt vigilantes, they are sent to Washington Square Park. A parade and memorial service for the victims of the Snap is being held there, and the Mayor is scheduled to give a speech.

Suddenly, The Punisher appears and attempts to assassinate Osborn (and fails). He uses blanks and decoy bombs to disperse the crowd before engaging Norman’s Thunderbolts (including Rhino, Shocker, and others). The heroes' top priority will be saving civilians and helping them evacuate the square as it turns into a war zone.

I need some advice on creating interesting scenarios around the square where the heroes can save civilians. I want this to be a crucial turning point: by helping out, they’ll inadvertently put themselves in the spotlight, attracting the attention of Norman’s police force and turning the whole situation into a massive confrontation.

My group consists of 3 players plus Iron Fist as an NPC. Here are the characters:

  1. Adam Stone is a military medic with mysterious supernatural abilities. He can diagnose health issues with a single glance and has the power to manipulate chemicals with his bare hands.
  2. Marta Miller is a brilliant scientist who wields the iconic mechanical arms of Doctor Octopus.
  3. Calixto Cruz is a teleporter very similar to Nightcrawler but created artificially like Deadpool.

Any ideas on how to make the rescue mission more dynamic and challenging for this specific team? Thanks in advance!

Trolls or Demons

I'm thinking about a short story arc for the game where a small part of the Rocky Mountains suffers from a Troll or Deamon invasion. Any ideas in powers of either and interesting lore elements I can put in the story.

Does anyone else use Foundry VTT? Issues with v14 update

Does anyone else use Foundry VTT for playing the game?

The most recent update for v14 broke the powers that influence dmg multipliers and dmg reduction.

I've tried fixing it (I think the strings that need to be modified were changed) but can't figure it out. Did anyone manage to do fix this?

Porcupine and Bison!

Porcupine and Bison! I built Porcupine a long while back before the new Battle Suit rules from the Avengers Expansion. The Counterstrike Technique emulates when someone punches/hits his spiny armor. Also, the Effects options may not make sense, but it’s actually the condition gained from a Fantastic Success that emulates his various offensive options from his quills.
