Reach with Webslinging

I swear when I was reading up on the the Interpose reaction, there was a note somewhere that the Webslinging Reach allows you to Interpose within it's reach i.e. Spider-man can Interpose from 18 spaces away.

Did I make this up? The Webslinging power specifically says "reach" and not "range," so I'm wondering if it's at least the intention, but I swear I saw an actual example about him using his reaction to Websling himself across 18 spaces to Interpose in front of someone else...

Help With Campaign Ideas? Please?

Im going to run a campaign with 4 players and i planned on using Kang and having it be wacky time travel shenanigans and such which I thought would work well until I was talking to them about villains they knew gor future reference and only 1 had ever heard of Kang before. So now i dont really know who I can use that they are all liable to know. 1 is an avud comic reader, 1 is a specifically spider-man super fan, 1 is an mcu only fan, and 1 has basically only surface level knowledge. I dont want to use thanos at all. They are around rank 5. Please help by suggesting villains or ideas for what the villain you suggest's motives might be.

Edit: they are playing established characters

Looking for free and casual group/game

Hello everyone,

A friend of mine and I are interested in participating in a campaign.

we don't have much experience with this system, and we'd like to see what its like playing it.

our timezones are EEST(UTC+3) and ACST(GMT+9:30)

our schedules are pretty flexible

we're looking for a casual and free group to join.

Note: preferably, we'd like no ai involvement when it comes to the art and the writing of the group/campaign.

Favorite Villains To Use?

Alright, I'm running my very first game of the Marvel Multiverse RPG for a group of six buddies of mine playing at Rank 3. The quick pitch is this: The Kingpin has mysterious vanished from his place at the top of the Criminal Underworld of New York City, leaving a power vacuum quickly filled by an entity that has quickly united the criminal factions of New York against the heroes, no long fighting each other as much as those like Spider-Man and Daredevil but now hunting in packs and sharing both tactics and tech. So, that leads me to my question: What are some good villains to use? I plan on hitting on the usual suspects like some characters from Punisher's, Daredevil's, Spider-Mans, etc rogue's galleries but a lot of those villains I kinda wanna build up to and stretch out a bit. So who are some characters that are still cool and would make for cool fights, but aren't the super big name iconic characters that I think should be built up to? (Also any tips on balancing encounters for 6 people would be appreciated, I've only ever DMd the Fallout 2d20 and Starfinder 2e for 4 people and I'm scared lol)

TLDR: Running a street level game for 6 Rank 3 Players, who are some of your favorite villains (and jobbers) to use around this level?

Set up for future villains?

Brand new to the game, literally not even got my rule book yet but wanted to see if people had ideas on how to set up villains for future sessions/if that’s something people do with this game. Im thinking similar to how in the MCU they set up Thanos in post credits, do you guys ever put things into your campaigns that are hints to a higher story going on and if so what sort of things have you done?

Odin Redux!

Odin Redux! This profile redux was inspired in part by Brennan O’Regan’s interpretation of Odin on the Ultimate Fantastic Rolls website. It also grew out of research conducted while creating a profile for Seth, which led me to reexamine Odin’s official statistics and abilities. This version of Odin includes several adjustments intended to better align his traits and powers with the game’s mechanics. The official profile lists Odin as Big but does not include the corresponding Trait or its associated effects. Additionally, Odin’s Ego has been increased to improve the effectiveness of powers such as Bolts of Balthakk and Dispel Spell, which rely heavily on Ego checks and attack rolls. Powerful Hex has also been added alongside Odin’s Power Control powers to better emulate the versatility of the Odinforce (All-Power).
The accompanying Gungnir profile should be treated as a “Borrowed” Iconic Item under the Iconic Item rules. Since Odin uses the spear only about 20-30% of the time compared to his innate powers and the Odinforce, it has not been factored into his character sheet and may be added or removed at the Narrator’s discretion. Timestream Adventure character sheet problem

Howdy heroes! I am gearing up to run my first ever Multiverse one shot for my friends and they have never played any TTRPGs before but love Marvel Rivals so I bought the Timestream Adventure. The idea was they will be using the pre-gen characters they have dozens of hours experience with in the video game to see if they would be down to play long term before making their own heroes for the Kang adventure. The problem is that the character sheets included with Timestream Adventure have powers from the expansions. I have the core rulebook and Spiderverse expansion, but the very first hero I looked at (Peni) has Battle Suit and Constructable from the Avengers book and Healing Hands and Let’s Go from the X-Men book.

I really don’t want to have to buy 2 more books just to see if my friends even want to play the game after the first session. I totally get needing the core rule book and not just the free rules but it feels really bad to buy the one shot book and find out you need over $100 of DLC to use it as intended :/

New Narrator and I have a few questions

Hello, fellow true believers! I am new to the world of MMRPG and I’m planning my first campaign. I have questions that have arisen as I explore this new game.

  1. I own the physical copy of the CRB, which I got mostly for my players because as a legally blind person, I can’t read print. Instead, I have to read rulebooks in digital formats on my iPad or PC, so my first question is, what options are there for me to get a copy of the CRB (and other books) that can be read on those devices? And will I need to purchase it again to do so?
  2. I’m aware from watching videos (thank you Fuzzy on the Details!) that rules are sometimes updated in expansion products. Is there a current list of all such changes so that I can run the game with the most current and accurate core rules?
  3. How does the community generally adjudicate the use of the interpose reaction when playing on a square grid in the case where I am the hero and an enemy is adjacent to, and making a close combat attack against, my ally? Is it common sense to assume that would not be possible because there’s not enough space between the enemy and ally?
  4. Am I correct in assuming that a character who interposes will end their free movement in the space where they had to move in order to interpose? Or do they quickly scramble back to the place they started the interpose from after the attack is resolved?
  5. I would like to join an online game as a player so that I can see the game in action and hopefully also learn from gamers who have experience with this system. What’s a good way to go about finding a game?
  6. Lastly, are there any resources that the community sees as especially valuable for running and playing this game? I’m thinking along the libnes of play aids, cheat sheets, and so on.

I know that’s a lot. Thank you all for any help, insights and perspectives you can provide.

New Narrator, help me evaluate my player's Duplicate Self power balance

I'm planning my first MMRPG campaign, and one of my players wants to create "Flashmob", a Rank 1 hero with a self-duplication power similar to Multiple Man. I asked him to pitch me on how it might work in the game, and I'm posting what he sent me below. Neither of us has ever played the game, and so I have no idea how balanced this is. I'm aware that this power is in the X-Men book, but we don't own that, so we are doing our best to homebrew a version of it.

Thanks for any thoughts and opinions on this.

Flashmob's Duplication Rules (Homebrew)

Flashmob can create duplicates of himself, up to a limit of two duplicates. He spends 5 Focus to make a duplicate. The duplicate forms directly from Flashmob splitting in two, but a bright flash effect occurs that obscures the separation.

Flashmob Prime and the two duplicates all share the standard turn economy: 1 Standard Action, 1 Reaction, but each is able to move the standard amount. Either Prime or a duplicate can use the Reaction (or Standard turn). This is unless a Duplicate is continuing a Standard Action given to it previously (i.e. - escort civilian to safety - which it will continue to carry out until a Standard turn is used to shift its move). Duplicates can be given simple commands via a telepathic connection if Flashmob is both Concentrating and in Line of Sight.

Duplicates can be removed either from Damage [they have 10 health] or voluntarily dismissed by Flashmob.

Duplicates that are outside of Flashmob's Line of Sight or that he is not concentrating on can continue the simple command they were given. They know what Flashmob knew when they were spawned. So for example, a duplicate would know how to leave the building if he follows Flashmob's path back out and the command he was following was "Escort this civilian out of the building."

Marvel Earth 121 Living Community!

Welcome to the Marvel Universe!!

This server is set in the shared homebrew setting of Earth-121, a universe that differs from Earth-616 in several important ways. Here, Thor never became worthy of Mjolnir and instead inherited the mantle of the Iron Fist. The Darkness, a primordial entity that existed before the formation of the universe itself, serves as the direct creator of Knull. Xenomorphs!; not a alien horror from another galaxy, rather the result of a failed Kree experiment. These are just a few examples of the many unique twists that make Earth-121 its own living Marvel universe.

In addition to our expansive lore, we offer an easy character application process for players, with both Demiplane and Google Spreadsheet options available depending on what works best for you. Each player receives up to 4 character slots (8 if you boost the server), with characters eventually "retiring" after reaching Rank X. We also provide channels for posting your availability, discussing characters, showcasing approved characters, and a welcome guide that contains everything you need to get started. On top of that, we have a wide selection of text RP channels for out-of-story roleplay and community interaction.

If you're interested in becoming a GM, worry not! The experience couldn't be easier. After major stories conclude, in-universe news reports help showcase their impact on the world. We have dedicated area leads who assist other GMs in keeping events consistent and connected, as well as a team of Lore Masters who help maintain the continuity and integrity of Earth-121. Whether you're a player looking for adventure or a GM looking to tell stories, you'll find plenty of support along the way.

With an active and talkative community, a unique setting full of possibilities, and countless stories waiting to be told, you'll find all that and MORE in THE MARVEL UNIVERSE!!

New player here!

My question is, the way combat is designed in this game feels as if most characters deal large amounts of damage every attack, with the multipliers. How can you make combat challenging/entertaining if battle would go by so quickly?

New Narrator Here! Needing Advice!

Hey everyone! I heard that this game has one of the best Reddit communities out there so I’m really hoping you guys don’t let me down! I’m looking for some advice from anybody who’s been a narrator of an original story that they themselves wrote. Any advice is helpful, but I especially want to know, what writing structure did you guys use? I know you can’t just write it like a book, because the players will make choices that will throw you off every time. How do you account for that? And how do you leave room for character expression and character choices? Any advice would be appreciated. Also, even if you haven’t been a narrator and you’ve only been a player, I’d still love to hear from you about what you like best about the game! I’d love to hear about things your narrator did that really worked for you and made you be really invested. Thank you everyone!

How do YOU make MMRPG different?

How is the way YOU run this game different from how you run your medieval fantasy RPG’s? This question can relate to prep, at the table, or any other aspect of the game!

My answer is: I use Google Maps! Here’s a certain building in Hells Kitchen that CoK players may recognize.

of my sketches and my versions of Marvel characters (additional characters)

For a role-playing session set in the Marvel Multiverse, since I didn't have any miniatures but did own a printer, I decided to illustrate and create my own Marvel versions. I am very pleased with the result—as are the friends who took part in the session—and I wanted to share them with the community.

Why I Will No Longer Run Marvel Multiverse for Free RPG Day or at Conventions

Yesterday was Free RPG Day and, as a professional GM, I love to build the hobby. I volunteered to run some games and received my copy of the module with excitement. But then I saw the link that I dread, the one that was a source of my frustration the last time I ran Multiverse at a convension. It said something along the lines of "For access to these characters, please go to marvel.com/rpg"

That is one of the worst sites, mainly because it is just trying to sell you more comics, and every time one of the manuals sends me there, I can never find what it is that is supposed to be there. Thankfully, I have all the stuff on Demiplane but exporting to a charactersheet is a new feature and even that made me want to claw my eyes out. The irony is that I know that someone created special characters for the world of this event, but now it is just too late.

Then you have the problem that Demiplane's character sheets do a poor job of explaining what the powers and traits do, and that is me being extremely charitable. This time around, I was able to share my content on Demiplane with everyone (and that is a premium feature that I pay for in order to market THEIR content). But that isn't the standard at most of these events that I run at because the norm is that there is no internet access.

Of the games that were run yesterday, I had my choice of about five to play. Next time I will run Root or Cosmere just to avoid the headache that I get because of the piss-poor planning of the Multiverse developers.

Roll20 Sheets

Are the expansion characters in the Roll20 character builder? I'm only able to make characters from the Core Rulebook through the Roll20 builder even though I have all the content

Can you actually play something that feels like the Thing?

Been with a new group and we should soon start. The GM wants us to bring our own new heroes to play and I have always been fond of the "guy that can take whatever the big bad guys throw their way". As in they do not put up barriers, dodge hits but simply can take the hit head on.

But after reading the rules and seeing the sheet for Ben Grimm (which I consider one of the best examples of this trope and one of my favourite characters) I am not sure it would feel like it in actual play. Sturdy and damage reduction in general means you will still take quite the beating from any powerhouse and shrug off hits from the minions mostly. Hell sturdy actually just negates mighty and similar powers.

Am I wrong in my impression?
