Homeless and struggling with food insecurity. The food bank at Gus Garcia every Saturday has been doing me right. With the holiday today I’m sure the rec is closed but I’m wondering if they will still have food bank outside like they do sometimes. Please if anyone knows any other food bank options open on the holiday weekend I’d be really grateful just kinda desperate atp.
I’m homeless and been surviving off gig work. I thankfully have a friend I can stay with over the weekend and a kind redditor has taken my chihuahua in and offered to take care of him until I’m on my feet. However I haven’t been able to find any work this week, I spent all morning yesterday and today waiting for for at the Austin day labor center and with the holiday I know many people won’t really be needing any help this weekend. So I’m looking for anyone with any work, I can work for very cheap, I’m just looking to make money for some groceries to be able to eat this weekend. I age. Access to some lawn care equipment and can come cut your yard. Again I can do this very cheaply since it’s a holiday weekend!
Does anyone here know how to get discounted or free bus passes for capital metro? I’m navigating homelessness and I’ve been to the sunrise center where a social worker there told me I was couch surfing since I stayed with friends and not really homeless. That left me kinda ashamed from looking for help but I genuinely don’t have a place to go some nights. I had been paying for day passes before and I liked that they were 24hr, but with the new changes you can only do the same day pass on the app or if you pay cash you have to pay 1.25 every time you get on the bus. Yesterday I spent my last money on paying my phone bill and this morning I scraped enough coins I found to get $2.50. I need to take multiple buses to move around today. I’ve seen signs about reloadable cards at heb on the bus but this morning a driver let me on and told me heb didn’t have the reloadable cards anymore so I’m just so confused. Before the change in my pocket woulve gotten me by for 24hours.
Am I allowed to request a payment extension twice? I’ve had service for almost a year. This month was rough so I had to do the 5 day $10 payment extension. It’s been 5 days now and my service is suspended. On the app it gives me the option to request payment extension again but then right before I pay it says “your new due date I’ll be…” and it’s the same due date as before. I’m literally only like $30 short…. Anyone know if I can request the payment extension twice?

I really depend on it to get around, catch the bus etc or log into apps like insta work or even my Venmo. last time I came here and was able to get some work from some kind strangers so I’m kindly asking if anyone needs any work done today?
Does anyone need any labor or have any gigs or fast paying work? Or just know a better day labor place than the Austin day labor center?
Long story short I’m homeless and don’t have a car. Been getting by doing moving, day labor etc. I’ve tried the Austin labor center but it really sucks to wait there all day just not to get any work. Anyone need any errands done? Looking for same day pay. My birthday is also in a few days and I’d really like to get myself a meal or something.
As title states I’m having a hard time finding places to stay cool when it’s so hot and humid outside. Last week mid week was insane. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find anyone that can take care of my dog and he’s been with me though so much, I can’t give him up. It’s a chihuahua and sometimes when I find shady places like parks etc he can get to barking a lot around other dogs. Anyone have any recommendations for places that are pet friendly?
