Never been with boost question about their phone deals

I want to buy the razr 2025, it’s online for $99 plus 1 month of service.
Can I cancel the plan as soon as I get the phone? As I only need the device. Or would I be charge the full amount of the phone ?

Autopay didn't work, account suspended, yet credit card was charged!

Just what the title says. I am currently in Puerto Rico on vacation where I don't get service anyway, however my account was suspended because there must have been a glitch in the autopay. Not sure if its because I am outside my coverage area or what. I even just tried to pay again manually, it went through and even shows up in my payment history, but account still shows suspended! What the hell!!

No 5G. No ability on new phone to revert to 4G. On ATT towers I think but Tmobile in area. What are my options?

I've been with Boost since it was Virgin, like I don't even know. Decades. Recently my Samsung A23 got smashed after getting my sim hijacked (which I called Boost about before it happened as I noticed suspicious activity and they did NOTHING- told me nothing to worry about ... but they succeeded and took out a bunch of CC's in my name and stole my ID. Worst CS EVER)

So on my old 5G Samsung, never got 5G here, ever. Learned that the 5G icon is fake thanks to a few Android apps that showed me it's really all LTE.

BUT, on the old Samsung, I created a shortcut where I could turn 5G off so I always left it off and that was a nice feature because I could save some battery.

New phone, Moto 5G 2026. Had to grab the best phone my local WallyWorld had because I needed a phone ASAP.

Still no 5G at all, as confirmed by Android app "PrivacyCell." Speeds are abyssmal.

Now there is no way to turn off 5G and revert to 4G. Options are greyed out on this Android version 16.

So what are my options here? I rely on Wifi calling in my apartment and never get 5G anywhere even in other cities. Even in Chicago. I know because I have PrivacyCell constantly monitoring and set to alert me if I actually get 5G.

Questions:

  1. Is there a way to get on another network by calling Boost or something?

  2. Will going to a store and getting another sim help?

  3. Do I need to just finally give up Boost and if so, who the hell can compete with ~26 a month? I would pay a bit more to actually get 5G and an ability to NOT have to rely on wifi calling in my home.

In SW Michigan.

Any help appreciated. Please be nice. Shouldn't have to say that but..... it's gotten a lot less nice here and that's why I'm using a throwaway. Thanks

Stuck in Porting Hell: Boost Says No Request, Metro Says Boost Keeps Denying It

For the past four days, I’ve been trying to port my number from Boost to Metro, but the request keeps getting denied because of an “incorrect account number.” I’m 100% sure the account number is correct, I’ve checked it at least ten times with both carriers.

Metro says Boost is denying the port request, but Boost says they haven’t received any port request at all. Has anyone experienced this or have any idea what’s going on?

Neither carrier seems to have a solution. Boost keeps telling me to contact Metro, and Metro keeps telling me to contact Boost.

Infinite Access for iPhone Questions

Hello, I just learned today that at the end of June Boost stopped offering its Infinite Access plans for iPhone and Galaxy devices. I’m on the Infinite Access for iPhone plan and was planning on upgrading to the upcoming folding iPhone once it’s out. I thought I’d check the Boost site to see if the new Z Fold8 is on there but it’s not, and I learned that the Infinite Access plan has been discontinued but current customers are grandfathered in. My question is, do you guys think they’ll have the folding iPhone as an option, or maybe not even at all? I’m paying enough each month for this plan and I’d like to use its perks still!

Pixel 10 people...boost wants me to pay for a 13th month of service at premium cost for my phone to be unlocked at day 365...REQUEST PAYMENT EXTENSION and then cancel service.

I was planning to just switch to a cheaper boost line on month 13 but because my 365 day unlock wouldnt hit unless I paid for a 13th month of premium, effectively requiring me to pay for 394 days of premium service before phone unlocks, i was told by customer service rep i can request the $10 payment extension, get the phone unlocked the one day after my 12th month of service would have ended, then i can be done with boost.

How do I change my plan

TLDR: took iPhone 17e offer, pre-paid $60 for two months, now not able to change to another Boost plan.

Edit-3: I have my answer. Thank you to those that took the time to constructively respond. I learned to read T&C better. Maybe I will write to Boost to not hide important aspects re terms of service in fine print.

Long story:
I took the IPhone 17e deal with boost wherein I paid some money upfront ($99), paid upfront for 2 months @ $60/m. The deal was no contract with a 12 months Boost account commitment for phone. This was done in store. Same offer was available online but there was a $50 premium (which ultimately was only $15 and a lot of time spent, because the store charges $35 store fees).

Today is day 32 of my account. Prior to this my online account said I was on a commitment and unable to change plans - which was fair given I had already paid for the next month. Now that I started my 2nd month it says that I cannot change plans as I bought a phone.

Customer service told me to pound sand. When asked to receive a copy of the terms and conditions and contract I signed they said go to the store. There is no place online I can get the terms of contract or any information.

I tried to ask for a refund but lo and behold, the system is setup for you to find this out after the 30 day money back timeline expires.

Question - has anyone had anything similar? How did you get around to solving it? Paying $60 a month for 12 months (or god knows how long because I don’t have any paperwork from them) is not my intention, there were much better deals and I explicitly remember reading no contract (the offer is still there, though higher $ amount).

Edit: the website explicitly says “no contract required” under my plan in my account, but I can’t change my plan?

Edit-2: for the haters, this is what Boost makes easily known when signing up and after signup in your account. You have to scratch the surface some and read the fine print hidden away in a section to realize that this is basically a contract.

Boost Mobile Feedback: Calling in just to pay your bill? I want to know why

I’ve been looking at some of our overall support trends lately, and I noticed that a significant number of people prefer to call in or chat with an agent to make a payment or update their payment method.

Managing account details is something many people prefer to handle quickly on their own to get on with their day without waiting on hold. Because of that, I’m interested in learning more about the factors that lead to choosing the phone or chat lines over digital self-serve options. We want to make managing your account as straightforward as possible, and understanding your preferences helps us see what is working well and where we can improve the digital experience.

💡 Quick Insider Tip

If you’re currently trying to update your card and the app feels like it's stuck in an infinite loading loop, try clearing your app cache or switching over to a mobile browser. Sometimes old session data clogs up the checkout flow.

Help me understand the experience:

I want to take your feedback directly to our customer experience team. If you prefer calling in to hand over a payment, what’s the main reason?

  • Trust & Security: Do you just feel more comfortable getting a verbal confirmation from a real person that your payment went through?
  • App Navigation: Does the layout of the app or website make finding the payment screen difficult or confusing? Is there anything impacting your experience making payments within the app or website? Have you seen any discrepancies on your monthly bills?
  • Habit: Is calling your preferred strategy due to past experiences with the online portal, or is it simply your go-to method for account changes?
  • Error Codes: Are you encountering specific error messages or glitches?
  • Autopay Glitches: Have you experienced issues with Autopay that lead to you removing it?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, please provide as much of the why or what so we can share with the teams. Be completely honest with me—what would it take to make the app or website your preferred way to manage your bill? Let me know below!

As always, please keep your feedback and information constructive, as we really do want to know how we can improve your experience!

question about billing

So i’ve been with boost for about 8 months, never had a problem. august 5th i added a second line to my plan, august 10th or 11th the bill populates that it is due 8/26th. ok cool….but i was charged for 2 months upfront for the second line. they’re charging me for a full month for 5 days which i think is insane. i complained of course and they said its in the terms and conditions, well i actually went through terms and conditions and there is nothing there stating that you won’t be prorated nor that you’ll be charged for a full month for a few days. has anyone gone through this???

I am targeted by emails saying my account is being closed but I’m not a customer.

This seems quite obviously a scam email but I think it means my email is being used.

“You requested to transfer your phone number ending in 9415 to another carrier. We're sad to see you leave, but you'll always be welcome back! The PIN will expire in 4 days.”

Anyone else had this?

Change number

So if I wanted to change my number through boost mobile (not a new number from transferring lines) how would that process work and how fast would my new number be generated?

I’ve had my number for a while and I feel it’s time for a change. Of course I know it’ll be at random selection for my new number, I would just like to know the process

Is it me, or is call quality simply horrible?

I got Boost a couple months ago and since then I haven't been able to have a decent phone call. Most of the time, the call is so choppy that it might as well be morse code. When it's not that, than it's muffled to the point where its.impossiblemto understand what anyone is saying.

I did the mistake of calling customer support on hold and after half an hour of being on hold and trying to decipher what the person was saying I gave up and hung up. At this point I am thinking of going back to the carrier I had before. They may not have been great but at least I could make a call and understand why the person on the other end was saying.

Denied Boost Protect

I am posting this here in hopes that u/BoostMobile or someone from the corporate team can help, because standard phone support just completely failed me.
When I activated my Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) line, I was explicitly offered the option to add insurance (Boost Protect), and I accepted it. However, due to a glitch on Boost’s backend, the add-on never actually attached to my account profile.
I just spoke with a frontline representative named Arturo who was incredibly rude. He completely dismissed the issue, refused to look into the transaction logs, and falsely claimed my phone "doesn't qualify" for insurance—which is completely untrue. Others have iPhone 12 Pro’s with insurance. I ticked the box.

I know the standard policy is that BYOD insurance has to be added at checkout. But I did select it at checkout, and I shouldn't be penalized because the system failed to write the code to my account profile. Frontline agents clearly do not have the software tools or permissions to fix this billing/system error.

Can a supervisor or corporate rep please help escalate an IT ticket to manually apply the Boost Protect feature code to my line? I am trying to pay you guys for coverage I asked for on day one. Thanks.

Arturo prefers I throw away my new account and switch back to my previous provider. I was hoping to move the rest of my lines here (7 more), but I guess not.

Old phone number gone

Hi, have recently switched from JB Mobile to Boost mobile. Did it last night, took out the old sim and put the new one in. It gave me a new phone number, I’ve had the old one for 15 years. Because when I tried to do it myself on boost to port the number and transfer existing number, it said to contact boost about it which I did. I was then with an agent and they did it all, even though I was reminding them during I want my existing number.

Now when I call boost I need to verify self using old number which I cannot. I’ve messaged them on the app and they say number will be processed 24-48 hours to old one but I’ve lost confidence that they will. I have also contacted Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman and they have contacted the senior person for boost. Will I be able to get my number back, very frustrating.

is the app and website down?

I've been trying to buy a data pack going on three days, but every time I go to the check out, the page says it's under maintenance. I wonder if this is happening to anyone else or if my phone is messed up.

Boost mobile phones

Hi..I want to sign up for new service with Boost Mobile with the $10 a month for the first 3 months prepaid plan deal. Can I buy a Boost Mobile phone from Walmart, they have a TCL phone there right now for $29 and then come home and start the service online and get the special on that phone?

Bug in pre-installed app leads to excess storage usage

There's a bug in the first-party app Boost Installer, package name com.dish.wireless.installer. It periodically downloads updates over time, but never clears them out. The residual files are places in /storage/emulated/0/android/data/com.dish.wireless.installer/files and over time, this folder can grow into the tens of hundreds of gigabytes. My phone itself had over 80GB of trash installation files. I'm not sure where to reach out to see that this bug gets fixed, but it's best to share instead of just keeping it private.

TL;DR: If you're running low on space, check your phone's files app under Android/Data/com.dish.wireless.installer and delete the folder labeled "files".

Accidentally Set Up A Second Line While Trying To Change My Plan

It's not activated yet, but I did charged 3 dollars and some change, presumably for creating it. My question is, if I leave it unactivated will I still get charged? Do I have to go in person to a store to get it removed?
