UFC 6 Beta Review.
I'm going to try to sort through this somewhat nicely so that if anybody does care about this, they don't have to search for what they would like to hear about.
**Presentation**
I am very mixed on the presentational changes made for this title, in UFC 5 and 4 the home screen and general UI felt very generic and poorly developed, UFC 6 makes leaps and bounds in that department - the home screen is beautiful and really tells me this is a true next step in the series.
The presentation changes I am critical of are some of the in octagon ones, such as the colored tints in different arenas, I think this is a very cool concept on paper and almost in the game, I just really would like to see it toned down decently, I would also like for the lighting to be brightened quite a bit as it constantly looks like the fighters are cast in shadow when on real broadcasts it's the total opposite.
I also really don't care for the weird air effects that occur when hitting your opponent, just seems a little too arcade like for me.
**Gameplay**
I'm honestly quite surprised with how much of an improvement there's been in the striking, and I had high expectations - the fighters that are available to try all feel very unique, even to the small things like Whittakers philly shell and Pereiras squared stance.
It takes some real getting used to but once you get the striking down it is far more fluid than UFC 5. Especially leg kicks, they are actually good now yet still fair to play against.
Damage is also much more punishing which genuinely makes you have to think about your combinations or you will sleep (against anybody remotely good that is)
The only negatives striking wise is that block breaking seems a little overpowered right now, though that will for sure be adjusted.
Flow State is weird, I'm not sure how I feel about it to be honest. I would just adjust the visual effects to be less intense, and make flow state activate on its own after having prolonged success, and stopped by getting hit clean a few times or stunned once.
**Fidelity**
Graphically this game is a huge step up with the fighter faces and bodies - no more copy and paste or IFV 4 models, at least from what I could tell and can assume.
**Overall Thoughts**
Overall I had a great time with this beta and am somehow very impressed. This is not UFC 5.5, this is UFC 6. EA actually listened this time around, shocking I know.
Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.
