Hello all, I just got weber kettle and am looking for some tips for burnt ends!

I had burnt ends at a work party last year at the end of summer for the first time. My world was changed, BBQ went from burgers and dogs to meaning so much more. I made it my mission to get something to potentially smoke and grill with this year that wouldn't break my bank, enter the weber kettle. So I just got it yesterday, did my initial burn-in and made some hot dogs as I didn't have much time for anything else, but they were great. I work most weekdays from 8-5, I'm assuming it wouldn't be feasible to put them in in the morning all day? My girlfriend is on mat leave so she could theoretically check them for me and if she had to, but I'm basically wondering how long is too long, the best way to regulate temperature for a long period of time and if I would be better off just waiting for the weekend. Thanks for the help in advance!
