I am a 30 year old woman who does not have kids or pets. I will be in Columbia for a one year fellowship, and I am looking for an apartment that is safe and not exorbitantly expensive.

Are housing options that are mainly for students really that bad? Those seem to be the only furnished ones. Does anyone have any recommendations for nice apartments? My priority is definitely cleanliness and safety. High rise apartments are ideal as long as they're under $1600 base rent (what the actual f). Furnished preferred, but not required.

I'm feeling lost on housing and the entire neighborhood so any advice would be helpful.
