5800XT, B550M DS3H Mobo, Arc B580 gpu

A friend is trying to build a first computer and has a budget of $700-$800, I told him it was going to be tough but I would see if I could figure it out. With current discounts I could get this at $815 before tax. He mainly plays FPS (newest COD/Battlefield/etc) but is wanting to move away from consoles so that he can play more indies. I tried to encourage him to wait but he would rather build a starter computer now and upgrade in the future. I haven't built in several years and never with this limited of a budget, so how would this hold up to real world use? I may try to convince him to drop down to 1080p if need be.
