Hi all, need your stories to make me feel better. For a year or so now my daughter has felt on the outer of groups. She is a quiet, kind girl who is young for her age so not into boys yet or parties. Her friends seem to like her but exclude her when outside of school choosing to congregate on smaller groups. For context she is in a girls school, year 9 and has only attended since year 7. Some of these groups went through primary school, some live more closely together, some have boyfriends.
We have had these girls over, taken them out but there is no reciprocal hangout.
Today she was excluded from a group in PE.
It’s hard to keep saying go find your people as I really don’t know if there are any. It’s also seems to be a massive taboo to go sit with other groups.
She is lucky she has one primary school friend that she is close with but is struggling with anxiety so my daughter doesn’t want to burden her.
She frankly is too nice and not confrontational.
I need some hope - any parents have a similar situation that turned around as they got older at school.
I lay awake at night worrying about it and put my foot in it by checking on her.
Advice? Hope? stories? Please 🙏
