Damon's Mommy Issues
so i'm currently watching the 7th season of TVD and idk if it's just me but i got so annoyed by everyone trying to make damon feel guilty for not caring about lily's death. they act as though his feelings aren't valid and that it's just him being selfish when that couldn't be further from the truth. he's HURT. BETRAYED. RESENTFUL. just because stefan found a way to forgive her doesn't mean it has to be the same for damon. after all, it's said that stefan was more of a momma's boy(cause she favoured him more lets be honest) so it makes sense for him to look past his abandonment wounds.
the woman had literally moved on from her own children and never turned back and somehow damon is just supposed to suck it up and play happy family?? she told damon to his face that the woman who raised them isn't there anymore and that she much rather prefers a life where she doesn't have them in her life because looking at them reminds her of nothing but pain. imagine hearing your literal mother saying that to you and you're telling me you wouldn't feel the slightest bit resentful? yeah okay.
TL;DR
anyways, damon was justified in his hatred for lily and i don't think its anyone's place to tell him how he should feel about her. not even stefan.
