A local Porter resident reports that two dogs running loose on Sunbird Creek Trl attacked a third dog, leaving it badly injured. Both of the attacking dogs were wearing harnesses, and appeared to be Huskies, but the resident could not identify them or their owner.

If you come in contact with the animals or know their owners please get in contact with the correct local authorities, and please use caution in the area and keep a close watch on your pets and children.

A missing juvenile was found safe and reunited with family after an investigation into suspected trafficking in north Harris County, according to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office. The investigation began on September 24th after Precinct 4’s Patrol Division received a report involving a runaway juvenile. Detectives said information developed during the investigation led them to suspect the child was being trafficked by a known individual from a residence in north Harris County.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and served it with assistance from Precinct 4’s Special Operations Unit. The juvenile was not located during the initial search, but authorities identified 35-year-old Brandi Lowe at the residence. Precinct 4 alleges that further investigation indicated Lowe had posted the juvenile online for trafficking purposes. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted a charge of Promotion of Prostitution against Lowe, who was subsequently arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Her bond was set at $20,000 through the 497th District Court.

Investigators continued searching for the missing juvenile and, on September 25th, developed information leading them to a second location. Another search warrant was obtained and executed, resulting in the juvenile being located and safely reunited with family. Authorities have not publicly released the juvenile’s age or the locations of either residence. Precinct 4 says the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests could follow.

An arrest and criminal charge are not a conviction. Lowe is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

A major new construction project is planned along Loop 494 in Kingwood for its tenants including, Care for Kids Pediatric Dentistry, among others. According to a newly registered Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, plans call for construction of a $9 million, two-story, approximately 30,022-square-foot multi-tenant building at 29921 Loop 494. The office is expected to be occupied by several tenants.

Construction is currently scheduled to begin November 9th, 2026, with completion projected for October 11th, 2027. The project remains in the registered stage, so timelines could change.

The Kingwood Oktoberfest will return to Holy Comforter Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 17th, from 11 AM to 5 PM. The event at 1901 Woodland Hills Drive will feature the Kingwood High School German Club dancers, music from the Texas Sound Check Band, German-inspired food, local craft beer and family activities.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 through 12. Children younger than 3 will be admitted free. Organizers said proceeds will support the ministries of Holy Comforter Lutheran Church and School.

Bob Rehak reports that the first phase of the Northpark Drive expansion is about 75% complete, based on an update from Lake Houston Redevelopment Authority and TIRZ 10 Board Chair Tom Broad at a Kingwood town hall.

Broad said substantial completion of the section from I-69 to Russell Palmer Road is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2027. He also said bridge columns and caps are under construction near Loop 494, with bridge beam installation expected to begin in October.

According to Rehak's report, Phase Two is at the 30% design milestone, and right-of-way acquisition is expected to begin this fall. A planned regional detention basin near Bens Branch and the Kingwood Diversion Ditch is expected to hold about 90 acre-feet of water.

A new Italian gelato and coffee concept is preparing to make its U.S. debut in Kingwood. Casagela, an independent family-owned brand, plans to open its first American flagship in the community in spring of next year.

The shop will center around gelato made fresh in-store each day by Italian chefs using carefully selected ingredients, including many imported from Italy. Plans also include an Italian espresso bar, pastries, light breakfast and lunch offerings, panini, tiramisu, cannoli and other desserts.

Casagela is owned and operated by the Shahini family, which says Kingwood will serve as the brand’s first U.S. market and flagship location. The exact Kingwood location has not yet been announced and is expected to be revealed at a later date. An exact opening day has also not been set beyond the current early 2027 timeframe.

Vendors at The Collective Boutiques in Kingwood are asking the community for help after merchandise was allegedly stolen from several booths on Sunday, September 20th, just days before the shopping center’s grand opening weekend.

According to one vendor, a woman using a rollator walker was captured in connection with the reported thefts, with Girly-Girl-Gifts & Custom Hats among the businesses that allegedly lost merchandise. The vendor believes the walker may have been used to conceal items, though that has not been independently confirmed.

Some local resident's have alleged that the woman picture's name is Susan Green, but the woman’s identity has not been confirmed by law enforcement. Anyone who recognizes her or has information about the incident is encouraged to contact law enforcement.

The Collective Boutiques recently opened in the former Painted Tree location at 1153 Kingwood Drive. Its grand opening celebration is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th, from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Any theft or involvement described remains alleged unless established through the legal process.

Humble ISD has dedicated Greentree Elementary's multipurpose room in honor of Nancy Pinkerton, the campus's longtime former principal. The district said the dedication brought together speakers, music and fellowship as the school community recognized Pinkerton's service.

Granado, whose appointment as the venue’s general manager was announced by Oak View Group on September 17th, says preparations include staff training and operational testing to get the facility ready to welcome guests. She highlights flexible spaces intended for trade shows, weddings, celebrations and community events, and credits the district team with visiting other convention centers to help shape the project.

The Nothing Bundt Cakes location in Atascocita is reportedly preparing to reopen on September 30th, nearly three months after a deadly crash forced the bakery to close. A Kingwood .com forum user shared the reported reopening date this week and asked community members to continue keeping the bakery's workers in their thoughts as they prepare to return.

The bakery at 19250 W. Lake Houston Parkway has been closed since June 30th, when a pickup truck crashed through the front of the business. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the driver was attempting to park when his foot slipped from the brake onto the accelerator. The truck entered the bakery and struck 19-year-old employee Zion Branch, who was working near the front counter. Branch died at the scene. Other people were also evaluated for injuries, including a customer who was transported to a hospital.

Following the crash, Nothing Bundt Cakes said its priority was supporting Branch's family, those who were injured, the bakery's owners and employees, and everyone affected by the tragedy. The September 30th date is based on the Kingwood .com member's report and has not been independently confirmed by Nothing Bundt Cakes' website or socials.

Score Entertainment is projecting a fall opening in the former Sears space at Deerbrook Mall in Humble. The planned venue will occupy about 155,000 square feet and is expected to include go-karts, bowling, laser tag, mini golf, an arcade, pickleball, virtual reality and other attractions. Company representative Rudra Paul told Community Impact the project represents an investment of about $25 million.

Bob Rehak reports that steelwork has started on the Northpark Drive bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and Loop 494 in Kingwood. The bridge is part of the Northpark Drive expansion and is intended to form a key link in an all-weather evacuation route for Kingwood. Rehak's photos show bridge supports, crossbeam work and other construction activity. At publication, the report said the Loop 494 intersection was expected to remain closed while crews waited for approval of a work plan for drill shafts near the railroad right of way.

A Kingwood resident is raising questions after reportedly seeing a woman picking flowers from a landscaped flowerbed while waiting in a Starbucks drive-thru line. The resident shared the incident on Friday, September 18th, saying the woman appeared to be removing flowers from the property’s landscaping.

The short video has amassed millions of views online and has sparked some debate over whether taking flowers from a business’s landscaping crosses the line from harmless picking to damaging property. No additional context has been provided about whether the woman, who revealed herself to the original poster as Leigh Trahan, had permission to remove the flowers.

The Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable's Office has announced the retirement of Captain Buck Clendennen. The office said Clendennen is retiring after nearly 26 years in law enforcement, including service to East Montgomery County and Precinct 4. The agency thanked him for his leadership, professionalism and service to the community.

There was a major crash reported early this morning, September 17th, involving a Mercedes and a power pole in the Porter area. The crash was reported around 3:30 AM on Old Sorters Road. According to the initial report, the vehicle may have struck a power pole, causing the pole to fall onto the Mercedes and knocking out power in the surrounding area.

Old Sorters Road was reported closed while emergency crews responded and the scene was cleared. Details about possible injuries were not immediately available. Current road and power conditions have not been independently confirmed, but online map data shows a significant slowdown remaining in the area. Drivers traveling through the Porter, Kingwood and New Caney area are encouraged to use caution and consider an alternate route until conditions fully return to normal.

Astronomy Day Houston 2026 is coming to the Insperity Observatory in Humble on Saturday, September 19th, with a full afternoon and evening of free astronomy activities for the public. The event runs from 3 PM to 10 PM. Afternoon activities will include indoor and outdoor talks, youth activities, solar observing and guided tours of the observatory and Astronomy in Art installations.

After sunset, visitors will be able to view the moon, planets and stars through professional telescopes, followed by laser-guided constellation tours beginning at 8 PM. Admission and parking are free. Parking will be available at The Luke Church, 2380 S. Houston Avenue in Humble, with complimentary shuttle service to the Insperity Observatory.

Bloom Community Services in Kingwood is inviting the community to its upcoming Hocus Pocus Gala, a fundraising event supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10th, from 6 PM to 10 PM at the Humble Civic Center.

Bloom Community Services works to help individuals with disabilities live more independently and stay connected within the community. The gala will help support those programs and services.

Kingwood Park High School Orchestra students are heading to Washington, D.C. after being selected to perform at the 2026 White House Holiday Open House. The KPark musicians were chosen from more than 1,000 applicants nationwide and are scheduled to perform holiday and Christmas music at the White House on Tuesday, December 1st.

The performance will feature members of the orchestra’s Christmas Club, a program that brings students of different experience levels together to perform throughout the community. The group regularly visits Humble ISD elementary schools, hospitals and nursing homes.

Construction is scheduled to begin in November on the first phase of EMCID’s planned 200-acre park near FM 1485 and Gene Campbell Road in New Caney. HD Outdoor Construction has been awarded the contract for the initial phase.

The first phase will focus heavily on pet-friendly amenities, including separate fenced areas for large and small dogs totaling 32,856 square feet, two interactive dog water features, artificial turf play areas, shade structures and seating. Plans also include restrooms, a covered canopy and 33 parking spaces, with a children’s playground planned for the future.

EMCID originally purchased 64 acres along FM 1485 near Caney Creek in 2023 for the dog park before acquiring additional surrounding property and expanding the overall project to approximately 200 acres. Future phases are still being shaped with community input, with another public hearing expected as EMCID continues planning the park.

New Caney ISD is planning a new elementary school in Porter, according to a newly registered Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. The project, listed as Crossroads Elementary School, is planned for 22256 Ford Road and would serve Pre-K through 5th grade students.

The filing describes the project as new construction of a 139,685-square-foot campus. The estimated cost is $38 million. Construction is currently scheduled to begin October 30th, 2026, with completion projected for April 30th, 2028.

The project remains in the registered stage, and additional district details about attendance zones or an opening date have not yet been included in the filing.
