Update: Kingwood Planet Fitness Police Response Linked to Locker Theft and Credit Card Fraud

New information has been shared regarding the Houston Police presence reported yesterday at Planet Fitness, located at 600 Kingwood Drive in Kingwood. According to one of the alleged victims, police were called after credit cards were reportedly taken from an unlocked locker inside the women’s locker room. The victim said she received a fraud alert roughly 20 minutes later showing an attempted $417.76 purchase at a nearby Walgreens. Another card was also allegedly taken and used or attempted at nearby businesses.

The victim said another person, described as a 16-year-old girl, also reported a similar incident and was able to review surveillance footage from a nearby store. According to the victim, HPD has identified a person believed to be involved, though no arrest or charges have been publicly confirmed. The victim also said gym staff told her she may have been the sixth recent victim and alleged that similar incidents may have occurred.

Any suspect involvement remains alleged unless confirmed through the legal process.

Kingwood Middle School Launches New Weapons Detection System

Kingwood Middle School began using the Evolv Weapons Detection system yesterday, August 12th as part of Humble ISD’s expanded campus safety procedures. The system has been installed at the school’s main entrance and bus entrance, and all middle school students will be required to pass through it when entering the building each day. Humble ISD has previously used the technology at district high schools and Turner Stadium.

School officials noted that Evolv is a weapons detection system rather than a traditional metal detector. Certain everyday items, including laptops, large binders, metal water bottles, umbrellas and eyeglass cases, may trigger an alert and could need to be removed before students pass through.

Students arriving early for athletics or other school activities will also be screened. KMS said slight delays may occur as students adjust to the new process and encouraged students to arrive before 8:15 AM.

Movie theatres?

Hello, I’m new to the Kingwood neighborhood and I’m loving it here so far! I’m an avid movie theatre attendee and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for movie theatres in the area? I’ve been scared with some of the reviews I’ve seen.

Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Finishes Grocery Delivery After Driver’s Crash

A minor crash turned into an unexpected act of service after a Precinct 4 deputy learned the driver involved was in the middle of delivering groceries. According to Constable Mark Herman’s Office, the driver’s vehicle had to be towed following the accident. Deputy Garcia then stepped in, loaded the groceries into his patrol vehicle and made sure the customer still received the delivery.

A small gesture, but a great example of going the extra mile for the community. Thank you Precinct 4 and Deputy Garcia!
