[Independent beginner] Using Kasane Teto (official voicebank) with OpenUtau Mobile (unofficial fork) for commercial song release – legal & crediting?
I’m an independent beginner producer planning to release an original song commercially on YouTube Music, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms via RouteNote.
Details:
· The instrumental was made in FL Studio Mobile. · The vocals were synthesized using OpenUtau Mobile – the unofficial Android port by vocoder712 (GitHub: vocoder712/OpenUtauMobile), licensed under Apache 2.0. The repo states: “This is NOT the official OpenUtau application and must not impersonate the official OpenUtau.” · The voicebank used is Kasane Teto, downloaded from the official website (kasaneteto.jp).
I want to ask:
- Is it legally allowed to monetize a track made with this combination (unofficial fork + official voicebank)?
- Can I put (feat. Kasane Teto) in the song title?
- Should I also add her as a featuring artist in RouteNote’s metadata, or is it safer to only credit her in the title?
- Does the “not official” notice in OpenUtau Mobile affect my right to release commercially?
I’ve checked the voicebank’s terms and it seems to allow commercial use with proper credit, but I want to be extra sure before distributing. Any experience or clarification would be really appreciated. Thank you!
