Help: Post-op tips for ovary-sparing spay + gastropexy?

I’m taking my rescue Presa Canario/Cane Corso mix in for an ovary-sparing spay and gastropexy soon.

I’ll follow my vet’s instructions, of course, but I’m trying to plan ahead for the recovery period. I know she will need to stay calm and not move around too much.

I got her a surgical suit. I’m also planning to keep her in a small room with no couches or furniture to climb on. I may move a mattress in there so I can sleep in the room with her.

I also have two other dogs, and she really does not like being separated from them. I’m worried about keeping her safe and quiet without making her feel isolated from the rest of the pack.

For those of you who have been through this:

  • What helped most during the first few days?
  • What helped once your dog started feeling better but still needed to stay inactive?
  • How did you handle other dogs in the house?
  • How did you keep your dog mentally stimulated without letting them get too active?

Any practical tips are welcome!
