First box

Hey everyone,

Sorcery is my first TCG. I have never had any major experience with physical card games. I didn't come for the '94 nostalgia, and I am not the old-school target audience - I played my first physical cards thirty years later with the LotR UB set (shame on me), even though I used to play Riot's digital LoR at a relatively high level before they put a stop to it.
But I didn't come here by chance either. I wanted to start with a TCG because the whole concept attracts me for many reasons, the listing of which would be too long. I systematically came to Sorcery for a few main reasons:

Primarily thanks to its dedicated fantasy world setting that stays true to itself, instead of mixing with outside IPs.

It's a departure from mass, soulless digital art.

The mechanics absolutely absorbed me after playing with the beta precons, and I love the emergent story that every game of Sorcery can express precisely through these mechanics.

This was my second box of this beautiful TCG (yes, one beta box already gifted me an Onyx Core, but who would click on a post about a second box), to which, as it seems, I can fully commit myself and explore.

That being said (many times), I do have a few questions for you guys, and I'd really appreciate any insights:

Is there already an established optimal strategy generally applicable across archetypes and avatars? (optimal site placement, optimal tempo) It often happens to me that I end up with an empty hand and play only the top of the deck, which is maybe caused by a lack of play and the absence of drawing engines in the beta precons, or is it a feature of the game present even in standard-sized decks?

And for my European friends - what is the best (for me as a student the cheapest) way to buy singles?

Thanks for reading and for any advice.

First box and thoughts

Greetings,

Sorcery is my first TCG. I have never had any major experience with physical card games. I didn't come for the '94 nostalgia, I am not the old-school target audience - I played my first physical cards thirty years later with the LotR UB set (shame on me), even though I used to play Riot's digital LoR at a relatively high level before they put a stop to it - but I didn't come here by chance either. I wanted to start with a TCG, because the whole concept attracts me for many reasons, the listing of which would be too long. I systematically came to Sorcery - primarily thanks to its fantasy world setting, which Magic gave up in exchange for the opportunity to be an advertising platform (I couldn't handle letting my elves get killed by Raphael and Leo throughout my climb to Mythic on Arena, which was my first ever experience with standard in magic- or any "competitive" magic, for that matter), thanks to its departure from mass and soulless digital art, thanks to its gameplay and mechanics, which absolutely absorbed me after playing with the beta precons, and thanks to the story that every game of Sorcery can express precisely through its mechanics.

This was my second box (yes, one beta box already gifted me an Onyx Core, but who would click on a post about a second box) of this beautiful TCG, to which, as it seems, I can fully commit myself and explore.
