my absolute favorite coworker was just let go suddenly and unceremoniously at 11:30am on a monday. she only worked here 4 months but man she is just the best and made work so much more enjoyable.

I'm just so sad for her, she loved being here and it feels like heartbreak and betrayal that I am still here and she's not. this was actually my first day being here full time now after only being here part time before and it feels like i've made a mistake. how do i get through this?

edit - wrote this originally in the height of emotion which is why its a just a ~litte~ dramatic. I know everything is going to be alright! just to clarify, she was let go because of budget cuts. she was seriously wonderful at her job, and my boss spoke with me to check in and to assure me they wished they didn't have to let her go. I do feel the need to crack down on my performance to make sure its worth it for them to keep me here lol

Went on a slow 5 mile run two days ago, noticed some pain in my foot around the beginning of my run, pushed through and it went away mid run.

Felt good yesterday, but I woke up this morning to stiffness and slight swelling around my middle toe on what I think is the same foot, right around the base and middle joint of the toe. It aches when I step on it or try to bend it and just feels tight.

My coworker was a nurse and thinks I jammed it, but we aren't sure what to do to heal it fast and google has been the opposite of helpful.

I'm assuming I shouldn't run today, but is it safe to even go on a walk? Should I be icing it and elevating it? She suggested trying to crack it but I couldn't get it to crack and it hurt more after I tried. Anyone else experience this?

I'm feeling super bummed because I've just gotten back in a good running groove after a month or so of feeling off, and would love to let it heal properly but fast if possible :')

TL;DR – jammed toe, best method to heal fast?
