Neighbor Treating Our Street Like a Junkyard and I’m Losing My Mind
Am I being unreasonable here or does anyone else get driven insane by neighbors who use public street parking as permanent storage for broken vehicles?
My wife and I make a point to keep our cars in our driveway and off the street because we live on a small block and shared space is limited. Meanwhile our neighbor has the smallest property on the block and somehow the MOST vehicles.
This is a household of TWO people with SIX cars. Realistically maybe one and a half of them actually work. What makes it even more ridiculous is they have a TWO CAR GARAGE that could be used for parking, except it’s completely hoarded up with used car parts and another broken-down car stuffed inside it. So instead of using their own property, the overflow spills onto the street.
For a while it looked like code enforcement finally scared them into getting rid of some of the junk cars. I thought we were finally making progress.Nope.
Now one of the old shitboxes is back AND they brought home another Honda with a busted window and leaking fluid like they’re collecting damaged Civics as a hobby.
At this point there are multiple cars that either don’t run, barely run, or just rotate spots enough to avoid being tagged as abandoned. It honestly feels like they’re treating the street as an extension of their property because they don’t actually have room for all this crap.
To make it even better, they LOVE parking directly in front of my house instead of their own and will literally work on these cars on the street. So now I get to look out my front window at a rotating lineup of wounded Hondas while hearing impact guns and watching someone turn public parking into a driveway mechanic shop.
And before anyone says “well street parking is public,” yeah, I get that. But there’s a difference between parking your daily driver and basically operating a rolling salvage yard out of a residential neighborhood.
It’s frustrating because everyone else on the block seems to follow basic common courtesy while this guy collects broken cars like raccoons collect shiny objects.I swear every time one disappears another wounded Honda emerges from the void. I don’t fucking get it.
