Up all night with diarrhea for 2 nights
Hello all. I have 4.5 year old chihuahua/papillon mix. 2 days ago at 330am, he woke me up with vomiting and diarrhea. He vomited a bunch of times, so I took him to the emergency vet. There, they said he gastroenteritis, gave him fluids and a nausea shot, and sent him home with probiotics. Well, the vomiting stopped but the diarrhea didn't. Yesterday, he was eating/drinking normal but still having diarrhea. Brought him to the vet and they said it was probably just gastroenteritis. They did a full blood work up and it was all normal except slightly elevated white blood cells and neutrophils ( high end of normal). Last night, he had me up again every 2 hours to have diarrhea. It has been very small amounts but it's frequent. Today, he has refused food but he still is drinking water. This whole time he has acted normal and not lethargic. I called the vet again, and I guess they are gonna put him on something more powerful (my guess is metronidazole). My fiance is going to pick this up soon. Any ideas on what this could be? I have been having so much anxiety with this.
