2WD vs 4WD UCAs

2WD vs 4WD UCAs

Today I went in to a 4 Wheel Parts store to order everything for lifting my 2004 4Runner. I’m doing BFGoodrich KO3 275/70/17’s on method 305 wheels with a Rough Country 3” lift (says for 2wd and 4wd). The guy at the shop told me 2 things that I don’t agree with/understand:

  1. I said I wanted to do these UCAs and he said they don’t make any that are for a 2wd… so I would have to keep my stock UCAs. But everything I’ve read says the geometry is the same for 4wd and 2wd 4Runners so why wouldn’t you just be able to use them either way?

  2. He said that with the 3” lift, and even if we somehow did get aftermarket UCAs, they wouldn’t be able to do a 4 degree caster to try and prevent having to do a body mount chop. They would only be able to dial it to spec or something

Am I wrong here, or do I need to call him back and tell him to order the UCA anyway? XD

4th Gen 4Runner lift Q’s

I know there’s endless amounts of posts about this, but I have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner Limited. I’ve been running everything stock except a mild spacer leveling kit for like 5 years, and it’s finally time to upgrade! I don’t want a crazy lift, but I think having about a 2-3” lift will make it feel more like a truck. These are the parts I’m planning on getting:

-BFGoodrich All Terrain KO3’s (285/70/17)
-Method 305 standards with either a 0 offset or 25 offset
-Bilstein 5100s (Keep my stock springs if possible? But
I’m at 185k miles so might need new ones)

I know every car is different so you can’t know for sure, but my questions are:

-If I do the zero offset wheels will I have to do a body mount chop? Or can I get away with trimming the fenders and mud-flaps?
-I read the 5100s don’t lift the rear? So will I have a reverse rake if I set the front to 1.75 and the rear don’t get any lift? Should I then get new springs if that’s the case?
-Can I save myself from doing a body mount chop by going with a different lift hight or does that not affect it?
-Anything else I should be thinking about before I pull the trigger?

Sorry for all the questions, if I’m finally going to drop the money to get all this done I just want to make sure I do it right and don’t wish I’d gone with something different. Thanks!

4th Gen 4Runner wheels

Anyone know what brand/model of wheels these are? They look similar to Methods but the logo looks different. These are basically my perfect wheel so I’d love to figure it out so I can upgrade, thanks!
