I want to ripen soon
The teak tree held
a tender copper leaf. Once
the bronze juvenile said,
“I wish to ripen soon”.
A wise weathered leaf replied,
“Enjoy these days, for
they too will pass soon”.
Roaring monsoon arrived,
The youngster was verdant now.
The gusty wind brought
a few of his companions down.
The olive leaf quivered and thought,
“Will my Will grow
with the same flow?”
Seasons flowed, the green leaf
endured sun’s scorch,
thunderous squall and
frigid frost. The mustard
leaf wondered, "Why
must I endure this
agony, and for how long?"
As month passed by, a wind stronger
than any before surged in.
the old leaf could not resist it
and was swept away.
The brown leaf asked, “was the
joy in withstanding or soaring
where nature took?”.
