In early May 2020 I somehow was locked out of my instagram account. No reason whatsoever. The browser-saved password stopped working. I tried several password re-sets, and was not receiving the emails.

Usually I use my desktop for instagram.

I tried the "my account was hacked" (it was not) and it just got stuck, and went nowhere.

This went on for a few days until I decided to try doing it with my mobile phone.

I learned that instagram sees your mobile phone as "more trustworthy" and got it straightened out right away. The link worked, and password reset right on the phone with no hassle.

Just an FYI for those who are not getting the password reset emails.
