pikachu & I breezed through the main game bosses including primal dialga, dusknoir ect… blizzard island gave us a run for our money but CONCEALED RUINS is something different! pokemon in here are on some different type of time! nidoqueens with earth power, umbreon’s assurance, wheezing selfdestruct and the fact that ITS OVER 23f (haven’t reached the end yet) have me praying on my 5th-ish try, even with 3 revivers each time! wish us luck 😭

as someone with entirely too much time on her hands, I decided to attempt to beat Zero Isle West with no previous experience in a reset dungeon.

upon doing some research, I quickly learned that Smoochum would be the top choice to run. especially for me, who was a total beginner. I was really looking forward to her famous room-clearing move, powder snow.

as I played, I realized how absolutely broken she is. she has SO many buffs.

#1: Tons of PP to start
her pound and lick both have upwards of 30 pp each. this is HUGE for obvious reasons when max repels are scarce, and you have both of these moves in the first 5 levels.

#2 Sweet Kiss
learned at level 8, this is a godsend for tough enemies. in my experience it never missed once. I used it to confuse enemies who I thought would give me a hard time.

#3 POWDER SNOW
this is the one she’s famous for. using powder snow she eats monster houses for breakfast. STAB, and hits multiple enemies without even being close to them, really a game changer.

#4 Confusion.
at level 11, you unlock a solid STAB attack. also has a chance of confusing the enemy which is of course a bonus:

#5 FOREWARN
this ability has saved many a ass. it’s not just some obscure ability that comes into play a couple times in a run- it lets her effectively dodge, I would say, 20% of all attacks. this is huge for obvious reasons.

#6 she moves at a 2x speed boost when weather is snowy
this second ability on an already near-broken mon is incredible. in zero isle west weather is randomized and you’re bound to hit at least 3 floors with snow throughout. she zips around while a maniac while enemy mons trudge behind. if anyone knows what this ability is called and if it works in hail too, let me know.

#7 Ice-Typing
she doesn’t take an annoying 3 damage every couple steps due to hail which you will encounter in zero isle!

overall just entirely way too good. I had a great time playing as her and am definitely motivated to try gastrodon at zero isle next, maybe even moving on to purity forest in the future.
