Emissions exemption
Looking to buy a used truck, a first gen tundra. The car needs some tlc work but runs and drives fine. The current owners inspection expires this month, and he has it emissions exempt in Pennsylvania due to driving less then 5k miles a year. The car has a CEL for cats but I’m guessing it’s just an O2 sensor but I don’t want to buy the car and it actually needs cats cuz then I’ll have to weld new ones in and what not and I won’t be able to get it to pass emissions cuz Pa requires 1 year ownership for emissions exemption. My question is, if I pay for him to get it re inspected and emissions exemption, and then I buy it will I be able to keep that exemption valid until my one year of ownership because then it won’t matter if I manage to fix the actual cats or not.
