Help with font impacting spacing and justification.

Help with font impacting spacing and justification.

I'm seeking assistance from the collective hivemind. I've only been using Affinity for about a week and I've gotten to grips with it and mostly gotten everything I need working but there are two problems plaguing me that I need help with:

Problem 1: In the example image below I want the white hexagons (which are a special character style) to have a space between them so they aren't just right next to each other, but not be split across different lines thanks to justification.

Problem 2: A similar situation where that special character is effecting the spacing on text boxes. Because the special character font is 'taller' even though it's the same 9pt size, it actually pushes the line down if a special character is on the first line but not on any others.

Here's an example below of what I mean. Note that both boxes has exactly 4 lines of text and both text boxes have been automatically sized using the double click method, yet the box on the right has a larger gap at the top resulting in the box being slightly larger:

I can work around this if necessary by simply sizing the boxes before adding the dice symbol, but if there's a way to make the spacing uniform I'd appreciate that.

Hello everyone.

First off, I am extremely new to InDesign. I've worked in Photoshop for years and have been using it to make the example image below.

I'd like to transition to using InDesign for what I am working on, but what I am wanting to know is if it's at all possible to create text box, of an unusual shape, the scales with the text without stretching.

Here's an image of the shape in question:

I am wanting both the header shape to scale depending if it has one, two or three lines worth of text, as for the main body I also want that to expand depending on the amount of text.

In Photoshop this is done by having effectively a top piece that is tapered and contains the header, the main text which is basically just a square that can be stretched to accommodate any size, and then the bottom slanted piece.

Here's a few more examples to illustrate the variance I am looking for:
