I know there is no one canon list of clothes that make or break an Ivy/preppy (or whatever) wardrobe nor should there be. Nor is there a list of clothes that every man should own.
I was reading Graham Marsh’s The Ivy Look and he gives an overview of what the typical Ivy leaguer might have had in their wardrobe - if not a platonic ideal then certainly the group think essentials.
What are the clothes that if you were to begin again with your wardrobe what would be the clothes that you would buy unquestionably or see as essential to you.
What is the general consensus on chinos? I have never properly invested in a pair that I am happy with (I have a pair of second hand drakes tobacco chinos but they were butchered by a tailor). I like UK based Community Clothing but that might be their general ambition as well.
Do people like J Press, O Connell’s, Bronson, Joe McCoy, Jack Donnelly etc?

I am perhaps one of a dying breed of young office workers (especially in the UK) that continues to wear a suit daily to the office.
My suits range in quality from some workhorse Charles Tyrwhitt suits to a Scabal MTM that I bought at a charity event put on by Saville Row. I have also recently bought a John Simons MiEng linen suit which is terrific.
I wanted to get recommendations on quality (though perhaps not bank breaking) suits that aren’t just the usual corporate uniform. I am uk based but obviously almost anything is gettable nowadays.
What are everyone's thoughts on Olderbest / Bronson Mfg (and the rest of that stable). I have seen a variety of different views but given they are offering clothes that are ivy adjacent and fit the style of this subreddit I wanted to check the views on quality etc.
Hi new to this subreddit but less new to Ivy style. I am a big fan of John Simons and own a few of their clothes and have several other ivy staples (Drake's, Jamesons, Harley of Scotland, Kamakura Shirts, J Crew, Brooks Brothers, RL, Sebago loafers, Church's). America and I suppose Japan are the homes of the Ivy style which means it can be tricky to get clothing which suits the style in the UK. What are people's suggestions beyond ordering in clothes from J Press, the Andover Shop etc.
