Somehow broke automatic brightness in Image Editor for jpg?
I've been taking a lot of photos, but haven't done much photo editing yet. (I'm doing some bird & wildlife photography just to get myself outside more.) Just recently, I started using the Image Editor to adjust the brightness on some jpg files, and the tool would always automatically start with an initial suggestion for the brightness and contrast levels, and I could adjust from there.
But just 5 minutes ago, I had moved the brightness too far, and I clicked the "Defaults" button in the lower left of the panel to reset to zero. But now, every time I open the Brightness tool, it always defaults to zero instead of automatically adjusting brightness. I have closed and reopened the entire program and tried opening different photos. I've tried hitting the "Defaults" button again, in case it was a toggle of some sort. I've tried it with the setting "Restore the settings of the Image Editor Tools" both on and off. But nothing is bringing that feature back!
Is there something I can do to get the automatic brightness adjustment back? The info I see online seems to only apply to automatic brightness settings for raw files. (I'm using version 8.8.0 on Windows, if that matters.) I would greatly appreciate any advice - thanks so much!
