I know Digikam has some very basic type of versioning as it can show the history of a file (still not sure how it defines that ...).
But what I have in my old (Windows) DAM is true user-defined versioning. Meaning I can define that for example filename.jpg is a version of filename.NEF globally. I.e. any jpg with the same name as a NEF file is automatically set as a version of the NEF file. I can define more complex rules too. And I can define buddy files with similar rules. Buddy files are not necessarily visible in the DB but are linked to their master files. Like xmp files or .rrdata files for users of RapidRAW. Those buddy files are then (again automatically) treated together with the master files when the master is renamed, moved or copied. It's a super useful feature I don't want to miss anymore.
So, is there a similar thing in Digikam? I can't find anything in the documentation.
This was main sorting option for me. Now I can't find this option (since v9.0.0)
The most frustrating is that if image was modified with external application it moves to the end of the whole album. This is very inconvenient for side-by-side comparison.
Say I've created an Advanced Search save and it filters out my photos to only show 2500 photos out of a 10k collection.
Is there a way to do an instant 'invert' to see the 7500 photos that were filtered out?
A map on which I can choose a location no longer opens (it formerly did) when I open the Geolocation Editor (Ctrl-Shift-g). Files that already have geolocation information still have their location shown on a map when I select 'Map' on the right hand side. This has happened suddenly (Windows 11) and the problem remains whether I install digiKam 9.0 or 9.1 Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
Hey guys, I'm a Darktable user and I've always used it to manage my photos. However, realizing the advantages of DigiKam for this task, I've decided to invest some time into learning it, but I don't know where to find good materials or where to start.
Could you help me out?
Especially on how to make it communicate well with Darktable, as I intend to use both together.
Thank you all.
Hi there !
Is there a way to search/find every black&white photo in my library ? I didn't tag the photo, so I am looking for a feature that "read/scan" the photo and classifies it as B&W/Color.
Not necessarily using digikam. Could be using external tools on linux, iterating over a folder using bash...
I've tried to use metadata (EXIF/IPTC) but there is nothing that could identify a photo as B&W or color.
Any ideas ?
