How do y’all not be late all the time

Hey y’all,

So I just started a new job (I’m a FF/Paramedic) now this job is great awesome benefits, amazing pay, great community outreach. It is also very hard to secure a full time position which I have successfully done. Now because of how desirable this position is it is very strict with the internal regulations, now this isn’t generally a huge deal for me I’m fit, I keep very well versed in my role and continuing ed, I’m thorough in documentation; with that being said I have always been bad at being on time.

For my entire life I have been the late person. Now everywhere else I’ve worked hasn’t really cared. I’m never extremely late (max 5mins) and I do try to be on time it just never works. Well I’ve already managed to secure a verbal warning and I’ve only been in orientation. It’s 2 weeks in and it’s already become an issue. I’ve been late 3x only 1-2mins each but one day was with the chief speaking to the class ( the department basically worships the ground this guy walks on and I can see why, he’s a pretty cool dude) so I really dug a hole with that one. Evens though he wasn’t on the schedule for that day but regardless.

Have y’all had an issue like this. How did you solve it? What routines could put in place to get me to be on time for once?

Thanks in advance and have a pleasant day/afternoon/night
