Crèche looking for more money from us
We have our child in crèche part time. Last week they text me saying we had to pay them extra money as our NCS (national childcare scheme) funding hadn't come through and we owed them for weeks that the government subsidy wasn't paid. I was surprised by this as I had applied for the renewal and got approval for the subsidy almost 2 months ago.
I told them this, but they say I never supplied them with the CHCK (reference number). This was complete news to me as they never asked me for the number. I had supplied it last year and thought that the child just had one CHCK number to cover them for their whole time in crèche.
With it being my first child in crèche I had no way of knowing they needed this updated number supplied each year. So now the crèche are saying it's on me and we have to cough up the extra money (on top of the already crazy crèche fees 😓). I also spoke to other parents and they said they got reminders to supply the updated number but not me, we didn't get any heads up about it.
What would you do in this situation? I feel like I can't not pay as it's not like I have another option for childcare, but I don't think this is my fault either...
