If I switch my media over to the new filter can I still take out the old one? Or should I wait a couple or at least a week or should I be fine?

So I am planning on adding some in my 20 gallon and it’s already boiled though I want it mainly for the color it tints the water😅my parameters are in a perfect range but I’m a bit worried that the tannins might lower the ph of my tank if it does do that what should I do to raise it in case it does happen!

I heard play sand is good though some say don’t use it and I’m not sure wether filter sand works best for an aquarium or just get aquarium sand any suggestions of any type is good!
