Panamera GTS vs 4s E-Hybrid
Hi everyone,
I have been contemplating the purchase of a Porsche Panamera for a while and facing a dilemma.
Context
- 40-y old, married, 2 children (2y and 6y old) respectively
- Auto enthousiast looking for replacing a BMW x3 m40i 2019 with something nice to drive, convenient and and comfy
- Driving: doing ~80km on highway 3 days / week to go to work (40km one-way) as well as regular family trips over the weekend and for holidays - Total drive distance of ~20.000km / year
- Possibility to plug-in the car easily at home as well as in the office
- Living in Switzerland so nice roads around
Target Vehicle
- I'm looking for a Panamera either GTS or 4s E-Hybrid
- Not new (to reduce depreciation hit) but recent, typically 2025-2026 with ~30.000km maximum
- Budget ~120-140kCHF looking at market for recent vehicles in France, Switzerland and Germany to match as close as possible my target specs (color, equipments, etc...)
Dilemma
- When looking at used vehicle market, I can find interesting 4s-E-Hybrid cars for ~120kCHF with ~20.000km to ~40.000km => this means the car will be ~120-140.000 km when I will contemplate re-sale after 5years ownership, so quite close to the battery warranty limit (which is 8y / 160.000km) => resale value will be limited to ~60-70kCHF at max most likely so 50kCHF in depreciation over 5 years
- When looking at GTS models, it tends to be slightly more costly in the acquisition, typically more ~130-140kCHF with model at ~20.000km however, I predict that the vehicle after 5 years so ~120.000km will not have same issue in terms of depreciation and could still trade ~80-85kCHF.
- In the end, the total cost of ownership of both model are relatively close with the lower depreciation hit on the GTS compensating the higher costs of fuel & tax
My questions
- Do you think the GTS can be an option as a daily daddy driver? Is it comfy enough ? Is it ok to to drive it in "mix environment" meaning also a bit of city centers etc... ? Any feedback on the noise in normal mode in Autobahn? I'm sure that the GTS quality of drive will be fantastic but I'm don't know about the comfort level when driving in normal mode with the whole family
- Would you still enjoy the 4s e-hybrid in my situation, silence and comfort across the board with still fun-to-drive when switching to sport / sport+ mode?
- Even though the total cost is the same, the 4s-e-hybrid seems the most "reasonnable" choice while the GTS would be the most "passionated choice" ?
- How would you approach this ? Any hint to help me decide between the two options ?
