Dependency question: Why doesn't a task wait for all blockers to finish?
New to ClickUp and trying to understand dependency behavior.
I have three tasks:
- Task A: 11/18/26 → 11/19/26
- Task B: 11/20/26 → 11/24/26 Auto Scheduled, blocked by A
- Task C: 11/20/26 Auto Scheduled and is Blocked by both Task A and Task B
My expectation was that Task C wouldn't be able to start until both predecessor tasks were complete, which would make its start date 11/25/26.
Instead, ClickUp automatically scheduled Task C to start on 11/20/26, the day after Task A ends, even though Task B continues through 11/24/26.
ClickUp AI told me that Task C was effectively scheduled based on Task A's completion and didn't account for the later completion date of Task B.
Is this really how ClickUp dependencies work? If a task is blocked by multiple tasks, shouldn't it wait for the latest blocker to finish before scheduling?
Curious if I'm missing a setting or if this is just a major failure with ClickUp's dependency engine.
Any work arounds?
