Just saw some news saying Europe might start tightening rules on VPNs because people are using them to get around online age verification stuff. Ever since the UK’s Online Safety Act dropped VPN downloads apparently went crazy ngl this lowkey affects me a lot. i use a VPN almost daily whenever I’m connected to public WiFi because ain’t no way I’m trusting random café, airport, or mall networks with my accounts I’m literally just trying to stay safe online and avoid shady tracking, not out here doing criminal mastermind activities lmao. Sometimes i even need it because my ISP routing is straight-up trash. Without a VPN my ping goes full potato mode while gaming and everything starts lagging like crazy
So like I just found out that Utah literally tried to ban VPNs and honestly this is wild fr. Apparently they passed this law that was supposed to go into effect on May 6th but then got delayed until September 3rd after Aylo (the parent company of Pornhub) basically said nah bro we cant enforce this. Here's why this affects me personally and why Im lowkey stressed about it. I live in Utah and I use a VPN literally every single day for work. My company has me accessing sensitive data remotely and I need the encryption to keep everything secure. But now with this law hanging over my head I'm genuinely worried about what happens in September when they try to enforce it again. Like what does this even mean for regular people like me who just want privacy? Am I gonna get in trouble for using a VPN? Is my ISP gonna snitch on me? The whole thing is confusing and honestly kinda scary no cap.
Not gonna lie this whole thing finally pushed me into using a VPN daily. I was just trying to browse normally a few nights ago and suddenly sites started asking for ID verification and facial scans like bro what 😭 no way I’m uploading my personal info just to access random websites. Ended up downloading a VPN after seeing everyone talk about it and apparently downloads are going crazy right now because a lot of people are doing the same thing after the new UK and EU rules started rolling out. What’s wild is governments are now calling VPNs a loophole and talking about cracking down on them too. Kinda feels like the harder they push this stuff the more regular people start using VPNs out of spite lol

I am on a tight budget right now and paying for a premium VPN is just not feasible. I often use public Wi-Fi and I am getting increasingly concerned about my online privacy and security. I have tried a few free VPNs in the past but they were either incredibly slow had annoying ads or felt like they were collecting my data. I need something that offers a decent level of protection without costing an arm and a leg.
I have heard Proton VPN Free, Windscribe Free and PrivadoVPN Free is often recommended for its unlimited data and strong privacy features.. It is hard to tell which of these actually lives up to the hype and which ones have hidden catches. My main concern is finding a free VPN that has a genuine no logs policy and does not compromise my security or privacy. I need something that is trustworthy free option for everyday use is what I am after.
Has anyone had recent positive experiences with a free VPN that they would genuinely recommend? I am looking for honest feedback from people who have actually used them.
