I'm in my first job out of college at a small startup. Everyone else on the team is American and has at least 10+ years of experience. I'm the youngest person here and culturally different, and I've been finding it hard to cope culturally. A lot of conversations revolve around shared references and humor that I don't have, and I often feel left out or unsure how to jump in.

I'm genuinely good at what I do, and I put in a lot of hours: evenings, weekends, whatever it takes. But I keep ending up in the shadows. People take credit for my work in meetings. Ex: a coworker put a bunch of my work on her slides and presented it with no mention of me. There have also been a few comments that felt racially loaded, which I've been trying to brush off but they stick with me.

The company has a flat structure and no HR, so there's no one to really go to. My manager knows the work that I do, but I am unsure if I should specifically tell him about some colleagues as they might have a better relation.

The part that's hitting me hardest: I used to be bold. I spoke up, I was confident, and I liked sharing ideas. Now I go quiet in meetings, lose my words, and get nervous in a way I never did before. Even casual conversations where I'm supposed to just be chill feel hard. It feels like I've lost a part of myself, and I don't know how to get it back.

For anyone who's been the only person from a different background on a team, or the most junior person in a room full of founders/senior professionals:

• How did you get credit for your work without seeming petty?
• How did you rebuild your confidence speaking up?
• How do you deal with this when there's no HR?
• Is it worth staying and pushing through, or did you eventually move on?

The choice paralysis between 100s of shades of white is pretty crazy! I've seen people stuck between not knowing which paint to actually choose. I tried building an app that uses a tinder like logic to swipe colors and it learns from the choices you make to give you the top 4 shades from sherwin williams that would be apt for your space.

The app works for people who are aware of a color family that they are looking to paint in a room.
It takes into account the lighting of the room, the different hues, saturation, LRV values and slight undertone changes that affect the color. The swipe logic learns each of these factors to help you make the right decision. I deliberately took the decision of allowing users to flow into their own choice of colors, rather than applying color theory and design principles because your house is a sacred space and everyone can have their own choice of color.

Currently my app is set up such that it shows the color swatches using the hex codes of the paint, I'd like to know if you'd prefer seeing images with the actual paint rather than hex codes? do you think that would induce bias in your choice? do you think images show the right paint, considering varying light conditions.

I'm a Jain Girl deciding to marry a Maheshwari Boy. I strongly believe in Jainism.

Some Context:

1. My partner is okay with me following Jainism post marriage without any restrictions
2. My partner will also follow jainism with me (atleast visiting temples, following paryushan diet, Doing Prathikaman etc)
3. He is okay with our children following jainism and maheshwari culture both.

3. Does your partner & his family understand our religion.
4. What challenges did you have societally which can discourage someone to pursue their love.

Has anyone interviewed for a role of a full-time employee at Surge AI? I'd like to know because a recruiter reached out to me, conducted a call (I wasn't even looking for a job), sent me a take home assignment which was massive. I did not do it for 2 weeks, I received a follow-up asking for if I have done it. So then I start working on the task - which ends up being a 50 page document coupled with supplementary items (videos, excel sheets etc). There was no mention as to the page/word limit in the assignment. I recieve an email the next day after submitting it, asking for revisions, wth! I have never seen a company asking for revisions to a take home assignment - they could've directly rejected me. So I make the changes which were pretty detailed. I recieved a generic rejection email in less than 48 hours.
My Opinion: It seems like they are using people to do initial processing of their client requests.

Hi, I filed my taxes around 1st week of April, the portal shows 22nd April, my tax refund was issued. It's June and I haven't recieved the amount.

Hi, I applied for EAD with premium processing on April 13 and am awaiting for a response for biometrics. I am confused about how does the 30 day clock work? does the clock start from april 13 and pause when you get your biometrics notification or does it reset to 30 days again, also is it 30 business days or calendar days.
My job start date is May 18 and looking at the timeline where i havent received my biometrics yet, I am extremely worried whether i will receive my card or not. Can y'all please share your timelines.
