Next read!?

Need some help, y’all! 📚

I just finished The Reimagining of Thornwood House and for me it was a 10/10! I’m so sad it’s over. I absolutely love found-family themes and books with really human characters. (Sorry, Legends & Lattes just wasn’t my cuppa! 😂)

I’m a huge Sarah Beth Durst fan and have read all her books and loved every single one. I haven’t read Sea of Charms yet, but I’ve bought it and I’m saving it for my next beach holiday in October, so please help me find something to read in the meantime so I don’t cave and start it early! 😂

I also recently finished Stay for a Spell and Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter, and absolutely loved both. I’m also a big fan of Sangu Mandanna’s books!
So, based on all of that, what should I read next?! I’m particularly looking for something with:

❤️ Found family
🥹 Likeable, genuinely human characters
✨ A little bit of magic/coziness
📖 Something that will really pull me in

Please save me from myself and give me some recommendations so I can make it to October without reading Sea of Charms! 😂🌊📚

Any cozy fantasy movies!?

Cozy fantasy is my absolutely favourite book genre and I was wondering tonight if any movies give off this vibe for you? I love the Harry Potter series and find them quite cozy but I have seen them too many times! What else sparks this vibe?

Red flags and whether to opt out of this. Tw loss and abortion

Hi again!

Not sure how to write this but I need some advice. Will add some triggers first: threatened miscarriage and abortion thoughts.

I am currently 7 weeks pregnant. I have had two red flags with this pregnancy. One, at the first scan baby was measuring 9 days behind but at scan two a week later; it had grown exactly 7 days. Unfortunately, the sonographer flagged a slightly enlarged yolk sac. Heartbeat remains strong. My LMC has said it’s one of those wait and see situations.

In my gut, I know this isn’t going to be a healthy pregnancy. I am the mother of a much loved and cherished toddler and I’m really hating the mum I can be to her while I’m so incredibly sick and tired with this pregnancy.

I’m very worried this could drag on and make the impact on our family so much worse, to the nipt, to the second trimester then end in a loss that will just have such a big physical and mental impact on me that will reduce how I am as a mother to her.

I am seriously considering getting an elective d&c rather than dragging this out so I can go back to being the mum she deserves. Has anyone been in my position and elected to end it before the heartbeat stopped?

Rollarcoaster of results please help!

TW: Miscarriages

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some input from anyone who has been through something similar.

I have a history of losses, so I had an early scan for reassurance. Based on my dates, I expected to be further along, but my first scan on 14 July showed:

- Expected gestation: around 7 weeks
- CRL: 3mm
- Measuring: 5+4/5+5 approx 9 days behind!!!
- Heartbeat seen (around 101 bpm)

I was obviously worried about measuring behind, as I have always had quite regular cycles! I will caveat I am currently breastfeeding my toddler however my cycles still sit around the 26-30 day mark.

After a week of uncertainty and worry, I had a follow-up scan today (21 July) at a different clinic with a different sonographer. The results were:

- CRL: 9.4mm
- Measuring: 6+5
- Heart rate: 127 bpm
The sonographer said the growth and a heartbeat were tracking well however she highlighted two concerns:
- The dates being behind my expected dates
- The yolk sac appeared “larger than she likes to see for my gestation.” She said a larger yolk sac does not always mean the worst, but she wanted me to have clarity before 12 weeks and suggested another scan in two weeks.

She did not give me the yolk sac measurement in mm.

I’m wondering if anyone has had:

A pregnancy measuring behind dates but then catching up/continuing normally?
A larger yolk sac noted around 6–7 weeks with a good heartbeat and normal growth?

I know every pregnancy is different, but I’d really appreciate hearing experiences! I am feeling mentally prepared for whatever happens so there’s no need to avoid sharing if it didn’t end well! I just want an honest picture and to feel less alone I guess :)

TLDR: First scan I expected to be 7 weeks. Baby was measuring 9 days behind with a heartbeats. Follow up scan a week later showed appropriate 7 days of growth and heartbeat. Sonographer mentioned the sac looked bigger than she’d like to see but didn’t measure. Seeking similar experiences and how it turned out. The good, bad and everything in between!

Next read ideas?

Hi all! Just finished Agnes Auberts magical cat shelter and LOVED it very much! I agree with another post on here that it would be so amazing with a second book!

I am now wondering what to read next!!? I love all Sarah Beth Durst books so something in that line!

I was at my local book shop this am and saw a new book in the window - “stay for a spell” by Amy Coombe! The cover looked so much like spell shop to me I thought she had another new book I hadn’t seen (I have read faraway inn and am waiting for sea of charms).
