Ganito ba talaga? Seems hurtful
Problem/Goal: How to deal with families who criticize my weight po?
Hello, I recently came back to the Philippines after 18 years sa U.S. I left when I was a child and I am now an adult, and this is the first time I will meet my family members again. However, maybe it's just a cultural difference, but everyone seems so open in saying what's on their mind especially in topics relating to weight. I always hear "and laki laki mo na" or "diet pag my time" or "kunti lang lagay sa plato mo." It came to the point that I just wanted to go home to the states. In U.S. I'm considered M/L, fit since I go to the gym most days. I even lost 10 pounds before coming home just to feel even better. These comments are making me not want to visit Philippines anymore. Isn't a bit common sense that I will not look the same as when I did noong bata pa ako? Also for additional context, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer which also contributed to my weight. That's the reason why I workout kasi wala na thyroid ko. So, hearing those comments hurts my feelings but I don't know what to do. Thank you in advance for any helpful tips!
